I'm not the newbie but DH and I are bringing my younger sister to WDW next year. We're trying to come up with some places she may like, she will be 17 at the time. She loves food, but isn't overly adventurous. We plan on doing the basic dining plan. So far we are thinking,

San Angel Inn
Sci Fi
Tusker House-breakfast
Teppan Edo

We need 4 more restaurants. Any suggestions? TIA!

For another breakfast I would suggest 1900 Park Fare, it was the best we've had so far passing Crystal Palace for us! The Mad Hatter is worth the price of admission alone! Food was good, service was great, characters were wonderful, plus you get to visit the GF. Ohana for dinner is a favorite of ours in the Poly. We tried Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club last trip and it was a nice change, we ate there for dinner. They have a lot more to choose from than just seafood too. :)

How about another place in the World Showcase? The restaurants aren't as adventurous as one might think as the cuisine is essentially streamlined for the mainstream.

Marrakesh is fun, and has nice food. Rose and Crown can be fun too. ::yes::

Here's some places we like:
Mama Melrose at DHS
Tony's at MK
1900 PF dinner at GF
Ohana and Kona Cafe at Poly
The Wave at the Contemporary
Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary
Yak & Yeti at AK

What about taking her to a meal at Cinderella's Royal Table in the castle? Great place for a newbie to say she ate inside the castle and she can have pictures with Cinderella, Mary Poppins, Jasmine, Snow White (they are all subject to change.) We did enjoy our meal there. Nothing fancy but good

We took our DD and SIL last year. SIL said that he was not going to take pictures. Well, guess who was the first one up when the princesses came to the table!!! Doesn't matter what age you are, she may enjoy the experience. DD and I received magic wands with wishing stars and DH and SIL got swords and when we left the restaurant we all picked kids to give them to (except one wishing star that I keep at work!!)

How about sitting down with her and going over the menus and seeing what she would like to do?
I think that is not only a great idea, but let's her participate a bit. She might broaden her horizons a bit. I know when you see all WDW has to offer, you want in on the action. ;)

That is what I recommend.

Love Ohana! We usually go for breakfast. We are not buffet fans, and we love how the food is brought to your table...and it is SO good. The dinner there is great too. It was just TOO much food for us. We actually really liked Kona for dinner. Or if you like sushi, the sushi bar in the lobby has some good stuff.

Tony's at MK is good. Really good Chicken Parm.

If you can get a ressie at Le Cellier, DO IT. Their cheddar cheese soup and pretzel bread..oh my...Filet with mushroom risotto is the bomb, and the Chocolate Moose for dessert is adorable AND yummy. Ok, I can't even talk about it anymore, I'm drooling.

I see you have Sci Fi and Teppan Edo already on your list. Also good choices!
