I made most of my ADRs yesterday, and while I was doing so it never occurred to me to mention that one of our party would be in an ECV. He can transfer quite readily (will be walking on days when only out for 20-30mins or so, just can't do the long distances), and we are happy to leave the ECV outside. What I wanted to know/be advised on, is whether I should call back and get a note added to all our ADRs that there will be a ECV, or will it not matter since he can get out and walk inside? Any advice would be great, thanks! :goodvibes

I don't know the "official" policy, but last year we just left it outside w/ the strollers and took the keys w/ us. HIH

It will not matter.

Depending on the restaurant and the weather, I will generally leave my ECV outside but in a protected area. There have been times when there was a very high probabilty of rain, and I was always able to park the ECV in a sheltered area, even if it included parking in the restaurant lobby or reception area.

CMs do move things occassionally. Take the key and if the CM needs to move the ECV then they can use a lever on the ECV that puts it into free wheel for moving while the ECV is off. You can ask the CM at the restaurant where to park the ECV. Parking depends on the location as some areas have crowds or parades that mean the area has to be kept clear. Also make sure the ECV is unique so you can find it fast, try a bright t-shirt over the seat back for example.

Well, these are the places we are going:

Le Cellier
Crystal Palace
1900 Park Fare Breakfast AND Dinner
Hoop Dee Doo
Hollywood and Vine
Donald's Breakfastasaurus
Rose and Crown
Tony's
Raglan Road
Princess Storybook Dining
Whispering Canyon Cafe

Anyone had any issues with these restaurants that I should be aware of?

If you are in a Category 3 seat at HDD more than likely you will be upstairs. Category 2 has some seating upstairs as well as some on the main level, and Category 1 is all on the main level.

All except Rose and Crown you should have either indoor parking available or protected from weather, although outside, parking.

We're doing the 9:30pm on the dining plan, so we're Category 1. Stairs aren't an issue anyway, and we won't have the ECV that day. What's the trouble with Rose & Crown? Is it just that there's no where to store it?

We spent 8 days at WDW last May & both DH and my FIL had ECVs for the entire trip. We had ADRs every day & I had not mentioned the ECVs prior to the trip. We did not have any problems at any restaurants.

Hubby uses a personal ECV, but never takes it into a restaurant. We always find an out of the way place to park it ourselves. If it even remotely looks like it's going to rain, we put the cover on it. (It is a small gas grill cover) that keeps it completely dry.

Do companies generally rent covers with the ECVs? Since we're going in September, it seems like a very sensible thing to rent along with the ECV!!! lol

Are you sure you are Cat 1 at the HDDR? I thought I read that if you were on the dining plan you could not be in Cat 1, only 2 or 3. Cat 1 costs more and is reserved for OOP diners. I could be wrong, but you may want to double check.

This thread just made me realize something. I plan on making an ADR at CRT. I just remember they have stairs there to get to the dining room. I can leave my wheelchair and walk to a table but I can't do stairs. Do they have an elevator and will they give me a hard time about needing it? I know the dining room up there is tight so I don't want to take up space with my chair when I can transfer.

Any advice???

The OP stated they were going to the 9:30pm show, where Category 1 is allowed with the dining plan.

There is an elevator. It's pretty small, but it works. It's kind of tucked into the area between the stairway and the bathroom on the ground floor.

Once you get upstairs, there are tables that are on the same level and the ones closest to the walls/windows are down a step.

Thanks Sue. I can probably handle one step with DH's help. At least I know what to expect.

Thanks for the correction Carol. I am glad to know that just in case I ever do the dining plan again.

If you're worrying about rain, lots of us just use a rain poncho to cover the ECV while we are away from it! Also use a shower cap to cover the controls.

Oooh genius!!! We are going to Walmart on our first full day so I'll add another poncho and shower cap to the shopping list ;-) Which reminds to add a shower cap for me too cos never seem to get one at Disney  :)
