We're going to be staying on Disney property for the first time this May. We're not on the dining plan, and only have one ADR at Akershus.

We've never really done any restaurants at Disney before, so what should we try? And where are they located at?

That being said...what should we try that we can get into w/o an ADR? Or is this a must?

I'm just not really sure where to even start... We're staying at CBR and would love to try a couple of new restaurants for either lunch or dinner. Maybe some that aren't as busy possibly? But still super yummy!

I'm just gonna throw some suggestions your way:thumbsup2

Boma (AKL)
Wolfgang Puck Express (dtd)
cape may cafe (BC)
mama melrose (dhs)
World Showcase CS (most places are pretty good!)
Yachtsman Steakhouse (YC)
Flying fish (BW)

I've also heard good things about:

Narcoosees
Jiko
Ohana
California Grill

Here's some suggestions not sure if you will get them this late in the game.

DHS- Prime Time :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
Epcot- Tutto :thumbsup2, Teppen Edo :thumbsup2 Coral Reef :thumbsup2
MK- Tony's :thumbsup2

Oh my gosh, there are so many great restaurants to try, I don't know where to start! What do you like to eat? Simple, fancy, both?

Here are some of our family faves for dinner:

-Le Cellier (Canada in Epcot)
-The Wave at the Contemporary
-Citricos at the Grand Floridian ($$)
-Plaza Restaurant in MK (old-fashioned sandwich shop)
-Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge ($$)
-Resaurant Marrakesh (Morocco in Epcot)
-Rose & Crown (UK in Epcot)

:sunny:

How about Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club? They don't take ADRs, so you may need to wait, but if you hit it at an "off meal" (early or later) time you should be fine. This is open just for lunch and dinner--sandwiches, burgers, and ice cream treats. You could either walk there from Epcot (5 min. tops) or take the boat from DHS if you aren't staying at the hotel.

Have a great trip!

I would recommend Sci-Fi located in the HOllywood Studios Park. It is themed great - it's supposed to feel like you're at a drive in movie - and it def. feels like it. This late in the game you still should be able to get an ADR without a problem and the prices are very reasonable since your not on the dining plan.

I will warn you the place gets mixed reviews, but DH and I have been twice, and completely enjoyed our meal. We've had the onion rings, ribs, shrimp pasta, and the burger, and nothing disappointed. We've always been too full for a milkshake or dessert but usually these things get great reviews.

Sci Fi is awesome if you stick to the basics burgers, onion rings, milkshakes
Tuskar House breakfast terrific.
Whispering Canyon another great breakfast.
Crystal Palace good breakfast.
Love the Rainforest Cafe: Really cool theme inside (including a thunderstorm every 20 minutes.) Fab food.
San Angels Inn is a must for me every trip, food is authentic Mexican not Texmex. The restaurant is like you're in a small village and you dine at the foot of a volcano. Pretty romantic.
I love the Spirit of Aloha show. The food is O.K. but the show is beautiful complete with fire dancers.
Those are some of my favs, hope this helps. If you want complete menus for the restaurnts check out allears.net. There is a rate and review section along with complete menus, and just about anything eles you want to know about Disney.
