I'll be able to start making my PSs soon (WooHoo!!!), and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a sit down dinner for the 4th of July. We are staying at the CR (planning on eating at the California Grill the first night of our trip to celebrate a birthday), a family of 5-me, DH, and DS16, DS13, and DD10. Any ideas?

My biggest suggestion is to choose where you want to eat now, and mark on your calender when you can reserve it. There are 2 restaurants from which you can get a really good view of the MK fireworks: CA Grille and 'Ohana ( specifically ask for a window seat). Sometimes you can see the MK fireworks from Narcoosee's too, but it depends from where they shoot them off. If they shoot them off from behind the castle, you can see them, but if they shoot them off from behind Frontierland, the view isn't very good, and there is no way to tell.

Good luck!

i agree w/eeyore0062. decide now and mark your calendar. we were at wdw last july 4th and we saw people turned away from lecellier because they were booked. sssooo, i imagine all the sit-downs are like that.

Which park are you going to be in? We will be at the world July 3-6, and on July 4 we plan to be at MGM for the "sorcery in the sky" fireworks (I hear MK is madhouse on July 4, and we've never seen SITS). We will probably just do the Prime Time since we've covered all the sit-downs at MGM at least once already. If I were at Epcot we'd probably do LeCellier, and if I were at MK I would do LTT (which I plan on doing July 3), since we have never eaten there.
If you want to eat at a resort I would try Ohana as well, but make sure you get a window--we were as far from the windows as we could be!

As a July 4th vet for years, I can tell you that the restaurants in the parks, and immediately outside the parks will fill up faster.

Try to decide what park you will be going to on that day, and plan accordingly.

For example, I will never eat at Cape May Buffet on July 4th again!! It was overcrowded. Many people came in from Epcot to eat, and you had to wait on lines forever at the buffet! (Any buffet will be more crowded with longer lines if all the tables are taken.)

Also, if you eat earlier, say 5pm, you are better off than say at 6 or 7pm. Many like to have a later dinner, and those slots fill up fast.

We went against our own advise last year, and ate at LeCellier. We had a PS that was booked far in advance, and yet when we first got to the restaurant, they told us it would be an hour wait!
Showing absolute dismay, suddenly a table opened up. But many others were turned away, or told there was a long wait.

Good luck deciding! A nice choice might be Palio's for you. Great Italian food, and usually not crowded at opening which is 6pm. Yet it is still within walking distance of MGM and Epcot.:):):)
