Restaurant suggestions for a mixed group

We're planning a trip for next year. We have plenty of time, but I'm starting to plot early because, well, I love planning and because it's an interesting group. :)

We're traveling with my parents for the first time. This is also the first time younger son (a planner like me!) will be very involved in helping out. We're going for six nights, so each person is going to pick one table-service restaurant for the trip.

DH, me, and our older son already know what we want! (Ohana, Cape May, Chef Mickey.) Younger son is pondering. He's not really into the characters at this point, but he'd like something a little different ... venue-wise, not food. He's sort of picky. ;) I was thinking Coral Reef, or maybe Sci-Fi Dine-In.

So is my dad. He's a real meat-and-potatoes kind of guy and doesn't usually like what he thinks of as unusual food. (We took him to Boma in 2003 and he was not impressed.) I'm not sure what to suggest to him.

Mom is a more adventurous eater and I know she'd like to eat somewhere that isn't dad's usual fare. But she usually defers to a group and I'd like her to actually pick somewhere she'd like to try for once! She's always wanted to see the Floridian, so I thought maybe the Grand Floridian Cafe?

Any suggestions for these three to look into?

I think whispering canyon at the wilderness lodge is the perfect place for you guys! The staff have a great sense of humor and definitely get you involved in the fun. There's joking around and horse play throughout the meal. Kids love it.

There's a very meat and potatoes option on the menu and it is an all you can eat skillet. There are other dishes though like fish. And bottomless milkshakes are a drink option, which everyone loves.

It is close to the grand Floridian so you could take the boat to the contemporary and catch the monorail over to the gf. Grab dessert over there or just walk around. It's beautiful!!

(PS...go Sabres!! I'm a fan myself)

When I think of "Meat and Potatoes," the '50s Prime Time Cafe at the Studios comes to mind. Plus it's a fun place to eat! Rose & Crown at Epcot would also be a good choice for him - the food isn't really "out there." I think of it more as comfort food.

For your mom...I've never been to Grand Floridian Cafe, but it sounds like a reasonable choice. She may also enjoy the Wave at the Contemporary, and it's not so "out there" that your dad won't be able to find something to eat.

For your DS...I'm not a fan of Sci-Fi's food, to be honest (although I know a lot of people find it perfectly acceptable). I really like Coral Reef, and the environment there can't be beat. Does your family like pizza? Via Napoli might be a good choice for him as well.

For a different venue, maybe one of the Rainforest Cafe locations or T-Rex? I haven't eaten at Sci Fi, but it would probably fit the bill, too!
For your Dad, we have heard good things about the Turf Club at Saratoga Springs Resort.
For Mom, we loved the Grand Floridian Cafe. The service was excellent and the food was very good although it isn't overly adventurous. Maybe something at Epcot? Chefs de France? We loved our meal at La Hacienda de San Angel too. Olivia's at OKW has a good menu, not overly adventurous, but some interesting options. The Wave is a hidden gem, too.

Good luck! I like the idea of each person picking a dinner.
