My mom and I are traveling to WDW for her 50th birthday in June. I want to take her somewhere special on her birthday and surprise her with a cake after dinner. Which restaurant will have great food and a fun atmosphere?

Thanks so much for any suggestions you have :goodvibes

More info would help. What kind of food does she like? Are you on the dining plan? Deluxe Dining Plan? Not on the plan and, if not, how much do you want to spend?

I've eaten at all of the nice places and I'm 50. If one of my DIL's were going to take me someplace special, I would want the Afternoon Tea at GF. That screams "girlie" and unique to me.

My parents are both in their 50's and they loved the atmosphere at Ohana, which is fun and lively. Depending on your mom's personality, Ohana would be a good place for her birthday, especially with the fun tropical drinks they have!

OTOH, my mom enjoyed Coral Reef and fell in love with Jiko and at the AKL. Jiko is really sophisticated while Coral Reef is sophisticated AND fun.

If I were taking my mom, we'd probably go to Ohana or Jiko. I'm sure your mom will like whatever you decide to do!

We are not on the dining plan. Since it is her birthday I was figuring around $40 a plate max. Coral Reef was on my maybe list along with afternoon tea. More to think about. :)
