Does anyone here have a recipe for Fried Rice that tastes similar to the kinds served at restaurants? Where it's greasy and tastes sort of "grilled"?

Thanks!

This is a basic recipe for fried rice that you can add to as desired. If adding other ingredients, increase the number of eggs to 3.

Ingredients:
1 - 2 green onions, as desired
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon salt
Pepper to taste
4 tablespoons oil for stir-frying, or as needed
4 cups cold cooked rice
1 - 2 tablespoons light soy sauce or oyster sauce, as desired
Preparation:
Wash and finely chop the green onion. Lightly beat the eggs with the salt and pepper.

Heat a wok or frying pan and add 2 tablespoons oil. When the oil is hot, add the eggs. Cook, stirring, until they are lightly scrambled but not too dry. Remove the eggs and clean out the pan.

Add 2 tablespoons oil. Add the rice. Stir-fry for a few minutes, using chopsticks or a wooden spoon to break it apart. Stir in the soy sauce or oyster sauce as desired.

When the rice is heated through, add the scrambled egg back into the pan. Mix thoroughly. Stir in the green onion. Serve hot.

Not a recipe, but I got the Trader Joes frozen fried rice (that sounds odd!) the other day and it was pretty good!

I used to have make this at some mall food court I worked at about 15 years ago.

A couple of the important things are to use day old white rice. Either buy it at a Chinese restaurant or make it yourself. But it has to be dry. Fresh rice will just make it a big ball of gunk.

If you are able to, get Mushroom Soy Sauce. It has a milder taste then regular soy sauce and what is often used in fried rice.

Don't be afraid to add in whatever you like. Depending on where you normally get your fried rice, you will see peas, carrots, bean sprouts, shrimp, chicken, pork or whatever you are in the mood for.

Things happen, but this particular thing could have been prevented with a little responsible pet ownership on the part of the Vet, who should have known better. If I was in your wifes shoes I'd be steaming out of the ears. I hope Lucky recovers quickly, poor woofie.

Whaaaatt?? :rotfl:

Grrrr, I am stuck on the I pad because DH is on the Mac playing WOW. this thing is a pill. I swear it has a mind of it's own:headache:

came back to say I'm not mad anymore, it's actually kind of funny... Sigh, pens and paper never did this...

Take the recipe in the first response and add a drizzle of sesame oil. It gives the rice the authentic restaurant flavor. I add pork/chicken, peas, carrots and sprouts. Delicious!

Benihana adds butter to their fried rice, in addition to the oil. I think it's actually garlic butter. I love their rice!
