First, I wanted to thank everyone in this section because it helped me so much in deciding on our restaurants. This was the first trip that we tried several of the sit down restaurants, and had a blast doing so. We had a long trip, so we had a chance to try many counter service places as well.
Our favorite sit down restaurant experience was Ohana's with Alfredo's coming in second, but we had many lovely dining experiences, so I'll try to sum a few of them up.
We were very surprised with Alfredo's after reading so many poor reviews. The place was very, very fun and we had excellent service. In fact, I almost felt kind of "hovered over" the servers were so attentive. The manager came over and asked how our entrees we. It was our first visit, so it wasn't like we'd returned after a complaint or something. If service has ever been an issue in the past, that is definitely in remiss, because our servers were divine.
We LOVED the Italian fervor, the singing (we had an accordian player, our main server and a few others serenade our area of the restaurant, then another more lively song broke out all over the restaurant and everyone started waving their napkins). It was a blast. Our food was good (I had the classic fettucini, my son had a children's meal). I loved the interior of the restaurant, it was just an overall great experience.
Ohana was similarly wonderful. Our server was fantastic, and my son LOVED running around with the other children doing coconut races and singing hawaiian songs. The entertainment was so much fun, and every bit of our heaping plates of food were divine. I'd heard about complaints about the menu changes....well, I don't know what the rice was like, but the maui potatoes were about the best thing I'd ever tasted (no exaggeration here) and the bananas foster bread pudding concoction was incredibly delicious. We even ordered two healpings of it and managed to finish it. I regretted the excessive waste of food--there were only two of us and we finished maybe 1/3 of each of the plates (oh gosh, there was turkey, steak, chicken, jumbo shrimp, barbequed pork, sausage, potatoes, vegetables, chips, sauces, salad...it was intense). All great food, however. We also were pixie dusted with a window table and perfect view of the castle, which we watched during the sunset. Just wonderful
I really loved Boma as well, however, our server appeared slammed and we didn't see him much. It was difficult to get the bill or anything else for that matter. The food was great, though. My favorite dessert was the pineapple cheesecake, and I was surprised to find so many dishes that I hadn't tried, yet absolutely loved at first bite. I would definitely return
Kona Cafe was another pleasant experience. I had the mahi mahi polynesian lunch, which was quite good, and my son had the kiddie kone, which was a big hit. He was very excited about the cotton candy. Funny what kids love
We tried to get in for breakfast because I wanted him to try that famous tonga toast, but alas, it was booked. Something for next trip, I guess...
I also LOVED the Chefs De France. We ate here on our last afternoon for lunch, and I had a divine dessert that was for the 50th anniversay---macaroons, grand mariner, caramel, orange sorbet...it was unique and delicious. I liked the lobster bisque, but it was nothing special. The service however, was divine--another very attentive, lovely server. And the atmosphere was wonderful as well. I would love to return here also.
I was a little disappointed with St. Angel Inn. The atmosphere looked very inviting--I loved the idea of eating under a dark painted sky near the river of time...but the food was so-so at best (I had tacos al carbon w/ corn tortillas) and overpriced, in my opinion. Just okay. It was good to experience it once because of the atmosphere, but I doubt I'd return for the food.
Same experience with Le Cellier. I'd heard raves and raves about this place, and while some aspects were terrific (my son LOVED the Northern Light drink--we still have the ice cube and it was very fun for him to have a glowing cup all night while walking around Epcot), I was actually kind of disappointed in my Maple Salmon. The maple creme brulee was very good, but not mesmerizing. I think for the price I'd rather return to Boma. Our server was okay--I think he was new and seemed unrelaxed. The hostesses seemed a bit on the remote and surly side, not super friendly by any means. The decor was lovely, but I'd rather try out another steakhouse for comparison.
I LOVED the rice cream in Norway--probably tried it eight or nine times. It was fantastic and addicting
