Thoughts on Disney dining from our trip. Number in parentheses is rating on a scale of 1-10. Ratings are based on what I expect from a restaurant in general. These are in no particular order.

1. Crystal Palace Breakfast (4) – we were seated within about 5-10 minutes of our 8:15AM reservation. Service was good (not great). Piglet came by our table almost immediately, followed by Eeyore and Tigger. Pooh did not get by (or even to our side of the restaurant). Sausage links and coffee were pretty good. Eggs were just ok (a bit watery). The following weren’t very good or weren’t good at all: sausage gravy, corned beef hash, and bacon. My daughter had an omelet that she did not like. Son did not like the donut holes and wasn’t a big fan of the bacon (and he loves bacon). All-in-all, good experience, subpar food, too pricey (total check exceeded $100 for 4 people). If rated solely on food quality in light of price, this is a 1. IHOP has a much better breakfast.

2. Plaza Restaurant (7) – best food we had other than perhaps House of Blues. Son and I had a Reuben and fries, wife had veggie sandwich and tomato soup, daughter had cheese-steak and potato soup. Sandwiches all were good, fries were hot (unlike most other quick service restaurants), and both soups were very good. Our view may have been skewed by the generally bad Disney food we’d had the previous four days.

3. House of Blues (6/7) – rosemary cornbread was very good, shrimp that came with it a bit overcooked. Kids liked the buffalo wings. Cajun meatloaf left a bit to be desired. Wife had beef medallions and said they were good. Son said the ribs were very good. Daughter had crawfish etouffee and liked it.

4. Cosmic Ray’s/Pecos Bill (3) – these restaurants stand out for slow service and bad food. I had a hamburger and taco salad, neither of which was any good. Fries were cold. Wife and daughter had a veggie sandwich at Cosmic Rays and neither of them liked it. [On edit, I should mention that we went at peak dining times and both places were a mad house, which probably influenced my opinion]

5. Casey’s Corner (4) – ate here one evening when leaving the park. Daughter and I had hot dog/fries, wife ballpark nachos. Nachos didn’t look good (though don’t know how they tasted) [on edit, wife said they were not good - stale chips]. Hotdog was decent but bun wasn’t. Fries were again just ok.

6. Kona Sushi Bar (6) – good volcano roll, decent nigiri. Crab-cake roll wasn’t that good, duck dumplings were nasty. Service was good and they serve a few good beers (Dogfish Head IPA, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale).

7. Yak and Yeti counter service (4) – I had fried rice and egg roll, wife had sesame chicken, kids had orange beef and steamed rice. All were edible but Panda Express is better.

8. Lotus Blossom Café (5) – kids really liked the orange chicken. Egg rolls were so-so.

9. Sommerfest (4) – I had a bratwurst. Sauerkraut was good, brat decent, bun bad.

10. Captain Cook’s (4) – son liked the flatbread pizza, wife liked the Tonga toast and soup/pork sandwich, daughter liked the Caesar salad. Breakfast platter was bad – bad bacon, old/cold/crispy eggs. Breakfast platter was worst food we had entire time at Disney, and among the worst food I’ve had in years. Rating went down a few points just because of that.

11. Pizza Planet (5) – decent pizzas. Wife/daughter liked the side salads.

12. Pinocchio Village Haus (5) – decent pizza (about the same as at Pizza Planet), decent tomato soup, decent bread sticks, decent chicken nuggets. While nothing was great, nothing here was bad, which is a departure from some other restaurants at Disney.

We were there the same time you were...

Funny I'm right there with you about CP. We love it for lunch, hated it for breakfast and just went for dinner the other night and realized we should have done a signature instead for the same amount. Sticker shock at dinner for off-peak season and so similar to lunch not worth the xtra $$ for dinner. We felt the same way you did about the breakfast.

But, the Plaza, we really love that place and been dining there for lunch frequently. A year or so ago though we discovered LTT for lunch (don't like their dinner) but they have the most amazing Colony Salad for lunch.:thumbsup2

We've also done HOB which is sometimes a hit or miss deal, I think it depends on what you order, but I'd go back there again.

Thanks for your reviews. :thumbsup2

My wife pointed out that she liked her breakfast food at Crystal Palace. I think perhaps my expectations were a bit high, but I found the food subpar at best.

Anyway, don't want to give the wrong impression -- we really enjoyed the trip but generally thought the food could have been better. We will make it a point in the future to eat at Plaza Restaurant as opposed to one of the counter service options.
