We left Michigan on Dec. 11 and arived in Orlando shortly after 11:00 am, there were 4 adults on this trip. We checked into All- Star Sports and went to dinner around 5:00 at Planet Hollywood. I have read many negative reviews of this restaurant on this site, and to our surprise it was very good. We had the ham dinner and half order of ribs at our table and both were very good. The ham dinner came with mashed potatoes and fresh green beans, both very good. The service was excellent.
Day 2 - We ate at Spoodles which is on the Boardwalk, it was raining very hard outside so we did not go into any of the theme parks this night. The food here was very good, we eat here on every trip. We started out by ordering 2 of the flatbreads, they were very good. For our main course 2 of us had the Gratin of Scallops and the others had the Rigatoni Pasta & the Moroccan Spiced Tuna. I had the tuna rare and it was excellent, the best tuna I've ever had. Everyone enjoyed there meals, I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.
Day 3 - Breakfast at Kona Cafe. This was our first time having breakfast here, and only one of us enjoyed our meal. My wife had the Tonga Toast and she just loved it. I had the Blueberry pancakes and the were good except there were hardly any Blueberries in them. If I had wanted plain pancakes I would have ordered them that way. The others had French Toast & the Big Kahuna breakfast and they were both cold when brought to our table. Overall not a very good place for breakfast.
Day 3 Dinner- We ate dinner at The Brown Derby at MGM and had very good meals. My wife and my cousin's wife had The Tangowood Farms all-natural Chicken and they loved it. It was very tender and not greasy, falling off the bone. My cousin and myself had the Pepper grilled Filet Mignon and they were both done to perfection. We finished off our meals with a slice of there Grapefruit cake, it is so moist and delicious that you have to have a piece when you go.
Day 4 - We had breakfast in our rooms, and dinner at Peco's Bills in the Magic Kingdom. These are the best Hamburgers anywhere at WDW, and the fixin's bar is just great.
Day 5 - We had breakfast in our rooms again and than did the Candlelight Processional package at The Rose & Crown Pub. We try to eat here at least once on every trip and always enjoy our meals. We were seated outside by the water which is always nice since this is the only restaurant in the World Showcase that does this. We had 2 orders of the Mushroom Medley's and 2 orders of the Smoked Salmon as starters. For our main meals we had The Yorkshires Fishermen's Basket, Prime Rib, Pan-Seared Salmon Filet & The Shepards Pie. For deseart we had the Stickey Toffee Pudding & The Chocalate Moose. We all enjoyed our meals there was not one complaint, this is one of our favorite places to eat.
Day 6 - We had breakfast in our rooms again. We had dinner at The House of Blues in Downtown Disney. We waited about 15 minutes for a table so this was not to bad. My wife and myself shared the Jambalaya and an order of the Rosemary cornbread, the Jambalaya is very spicey, so my wife did not care for it too much, but I thought is was great since I like spicey food. The other too in our party had the Chicken tenders & the penne pasta and they both enjoyed there meals alot. If you go you have to have an order of the Rosemary Cornbread it is great.
Day 7- Brakfast at spoodles which we all thought was very good. We had the french toast, Roasted Vegtable omelet, Breakfast Flatbread and my cousin had Mediterranean Breakfast platter. We all enjoyed our breakfast here.
We did the Poly Luau dinner show and it was very good, what a great show too see, I highly recommend this show. The food was very good. The chicken and ribs were very tender and the rice and vegtables were very good.
Day 8- We had breakfast in our rooms again and dinner at Shula's in the Dolphin resort. This is a very expensive restaurant, since everything is ala-cart. Each couple split the 24 ounce Porterhouse and our's which was done medium-well was not very tender, hard to chew. The other steak was not much better. We split the baked potato since they are so huge and split an order of vegtables. There is a $10.00 charge for spliting a meal here which is a rip-off. Overall this is one restuarant we will not be eating at again.
Day 9 - Breakfast in our room and dinner at Peco's Bills again.
Day 10- Our last day. We had Breakfast in our room and Dinner at Jiko at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. This was one of the best meals on our trip and one restaurant everyone should try. We started our dinners with The Smoked Bacon & Onion Flatbread and the Kalamata Olive flatbread and they were out of this world. For our main courses we had the Grilled Buttermilk Curry Shrimp, Chermoula Roasted Chicken, Oven Roasted Bone in Pork Loin & Oak Grilled Beef Tenderloin. We all loved our meals very much. The Macaroni & Cheese that comes with the Beef Tenderloin is just fantastic, we all tried it and loved it. This is one of the most wonderful dining experiences in WDW.
All in all this was a very good trip for food except for Kona Cafe for Breafast ( except the Tonga Toast ) & Shula's which is very overrated and expensive.
