Restaurant reservations

How many days ahead can you call to book restaurants? After looking at all the menus and prices, I will never complain about WDW being expensive again!!
I think we'll do a meal at Plaza Gardens (appears to be the DLP version of Crystal Palace in WDW) and a meal at Restaurant des Stars.
Will we need to make reservations for these 2 restaurants for August?

When does school start back up for France and the UK, hoping it won't be too crowded during our stay, we'll be there August 24 through the 27th.

You can make dining reservations 60 days in advance and the reservation team are available 24 hours a day.

As its August I would make reservations, as the parks are very busy as all of Europe will be on holiday.

Schools go back in most of the UK and France at the beginning of September.

Both of the restaurants you have chosen are buffets and they can be a bit hit or miss. And the Plaza Gardens does not have any characters unlike the Crystal Palace.

Yes, am aware there are no characters at either one of the buffets. We have been to WDW sooooo many times, we have seen a lot of characters already and some multiple times. We're not too worried about meeting characters, unless they are the rare, very hard to find ones.

I read reviews of all the main restaurants and all of them seem to be a hit or miss, so we're hoping that with a buffet, if something isn't good, then maybe a different dish will be better, as opposed to being stuck with a prix fix menu and just the very few choices on the menu.

You have to either phone or book when you get there through City Hall or your hotel concierge.
It is not as important to book at the 60 day mark though - most people wait til a couple of weeks before they go or even when they are there unless you really want to eat at a particular restaurant at a particular time

If your staying on site at a Disney hotel the phone in your room has a dedicated Restaurant Booking button, so you can call them from your room too.
