Me and my wife have finally planned our first trip to DisneyLand. We are very excited. Here a little background on our trip. We arrive the Tuesday (4/2) after Easter and leave that Saturday (4/6). We are staying at the Carousel Inn and have 4 day hopper tickets.

We have been to WDW around 5 times since we have been together (2 year married 1 year dating). Our big thing at Disney World was to have a fabulous Dinner. We will snack all day inorder to save money to eat at a nice restaurant.

Sorry about the ramble. Here is where you guys come in. We need recommendations for 4 Dinners at Disneyland (Magic Kingdom), California Adventure, and Downtown Disney.

Two we are thinking about is Blue Bayou (Problem with that one is we are from South Louisiana and are usually very disapointed with what is described as Creole, Cajun, or any other terms to describe south louisiana cuisine.) and the restuarant that is by the winery (not sure of the name).

Try Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in Dowtown Disney for some great Southern Lousiana cuisine. :)

There are two restaurants at the winery at DCA (Mondavi no longer sponsors this area). The Vineyard Room is upstairs and is EXPENSIVE (try $50-$60 per person for LUNCH) and offers 3-6 course meals at a fixed price.

Downstairs is the Wine Country Trattoria, a more casual restaurant. The Golden Vine Terrace (if it is open) is also upstairs, outdoors, and offers wine and appetizers. We used to love that place but now that Mondavi has pulled out the wines offered are not exactly thrilling.

If you want a lovely gourmet dinner try the Napa Rose at the Grand Californian. For GREAT Japanese food, try Yamabuki at the Paradise Pier Hotel.

Enjoy your trip! :)

Dining at Disneyland is not like dining in the Parks at WDW. The Blue Bayou is the most expensive full service restaurant at Disneyland. There is only one other full service place at Disneyland and that is the Carnation Cafe. It is very small and only has tables outside but under umbrellas. It is quiant but not spectacular. The rest of the restaurants are buffetiria, counter service or fast food.
At California Adventure, I haven't had a chance to try much. I really liked the new Avalone Cove but it is not what I would call a "Nice dinner". It is fun and the food is good though. I haven't tried the Tratorria(s) at the Winery.
I would definately make a spot on the agenda for Hook's Point at the Disneyland Hotel. It was good and a medium casual/fancy atmosphere.
You might want to try Napa Rose at the Grand Californian as well. It is very nice looking but I heven't eaten there yet.

The other posters covered the parks pretty well. Of those restaurants, I've only eaten at the Blue Bayou. The atmosphere is great. It's themed to look like nightime in the Bayou, and you overlook the boats as they enter Pirates of the Caribbean. I had the jambalya and liked it, but I am hardly an expert. Several of my friends absolutely love the Monte Christo sandwich. I would suggest giving it a try, but go in not expecting an authentic cajun/crejole meal.

The other restaurants not mentioned are at Downtown Disney, which is right outside both parks. ESPN Zone, House of Blues, and Rainforest are all in Orlando, so you may have already tried them. I've had lunch at ESPN and House of Blues, and would try the other resaturants before I returned to these for dinner. ESPN, however, does have the whole sports thing going for it, so if you haven't been in one, you may want to stop in for a bit. (The Orlando version at the BW is a "club", not a "zone", and is much smaller). If you can, ask to sit in the recliners for an appetizer or something. Its a Lazy Boy type recliner with head phones that allow you to choose which of the plethora of TVs you will hear the sound for. You may want to try this during a slow sports time, since they probably fill up in the evening.

Y Arriba Y Arriba is latin cuisine, and I've heard it is very good. Naples is a pizzaria/ristorante and I've also heard good things, though I'm not sure if the atmosphere is that of a pizzaria or a cafe. I've walked by it many times, but haven't really paid attention.

Happy eating!

<font color=navy>Let me try & give my take...

DL - covered
DCA - covered

DL hotel
Hooks Pointe. I really like Hooks Pointe. They have a killer dessert there that is a chocolate cake, with a pudding-like center, served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side - you have to order that at the time of your meal, cuz it takes a little time to prepare. We enjoyed all the food there, except the child's version of pasta - my dd did not like that. However, we'd all recommend this restaurant.

Granville's Steakhouse
I haven't eaten here myself, but it looks nice from the outside.

Grand Californian
Napa Rose - This is a little expensive, but a beautiful restaurant, and I think top of the line.

Storyteller's Cafe
One of our family favorites. We've had lunch and dinner here, and really enjoy it. The food is typical fare - steaks, pasta, etc. Their corn chowder is really good. They have a buffet on Fri & Sat nights, that runs about $23, I think, for adults, and is less for kids. I think they also have a 'build your own pizza' for kids, though we haven't had it. Last time we were there, the kids got the buffet & I got a chicken quesadilla off the appetizers - it was delish, and plenty for me for dinner.

Downtown Disney
Naples - We've had dinner there (to celebrate renewing our APs :) ) and I thought the food was very good. The pizzas aren't run of the mill pizzas that kids are used to, though. My dd & I split an angel hair w/shrimp & eggplant - it was delicious. What I liked here was that we could split a meal, and for an additional $4, they gave us two plates and a what I thought were good portions.

La Brea Bakery
I like the breakfasts here, and have had lunch here. The food is a little different than what the normal American is used to in regard to the flavor of the sandwiches. I enjoyed it, but I don't think my kids would like the lunch. They also like breakfast here.

Brennan's Jazz Kitchen
The food was good here, and so was the atmosphere. We sat outside, where we could see the people walk around DD. I would like to go inside the restaurant and explore a little, though.

Arriba Arriba
Probably my kids' favorite restaurant. There is entertainment while you eat. The house band sings songs from 60's & 70's and also the latin ones - most people would recognize a lot of them. Around 5pm or so, the dancers come out, and then every 15-20 minutes they'll come out with a dance from a different Latin country. They have a small variety of entrees. We've had the enchiladas & ribs, and liked them very much. They're more famous for their tapas, which are appetizer-sized meals that you're supposed to put in the middle of the table and everyone share. Just a note on them... we got the nachos w/guacamole, and it was really good... only thing - we ran out of chips, and had plenty of guacamole. We asked for more chips, and were told we'd have to get an entire dish... just keep this in mind when trying to be nice & not greedy for the next person. ;)

Rainforest Cafe
If you've been in one, you can imagine how this one is. It's set in a Aztec-type temple setting, and there are two stories. There is a waterfall indoors, and the usual tropical setting with animatronics. Upstairs has a wall that is almost an entire aquarium. We sat there last time - really nice.

*****

I'm going to have to research the other restaurants so I can report back on them. :)

FYI...the Monte Cristo at the Blue Bayou is only available at lunch. They don't offer
it at dinner.

I would do the Blue Bayou for lunch. It's too expensive for what you get at dinner. You want to eat there for the atmosphere. I was disappointed in the Monte Cristo the last time I got it. We were in the first group to be seated for lunch, and the meal arrived very quickly after ordering it, leading me to believe that it had been made and was sitting there ready to be served.
Defintely eat at Brennans. We took my niece and her husband there for their first anniversary. My niece grew up in Louisiana (& went to LSU) she felt the food was very authentic. When we took our kids, we all had the best meals at Rainforest (who would have guessed that?!) All of the food that we got at ESPN was great - and we ate there a lot (it was NFL playoff weekend & we HAD to watch both the Raiders & the 49ers!)
Breakfast at Storytellers (at the Grand Californian) was wonderful - we ordered a la carte - very filling!
