My husband and I are going to WDW the middle of May. Kids are grown and don't really care to join us. I would like to get recommendations on restaurants for good food. Don't need the character restaurants on this trip. Any recommendations would be very much appreciated. Additionally, I noticed on the BB that reservations are encouraged for seating around the 6:30 p.m. time range. I would like to find out the best way to make reservations at the various restaurants.

Thanks in advance,

Renee

it is easy to make PS arrangements. call 1-407-WDW-DINE. keep in mind most restaurants can be booked 90 days out. some are more, some less. one of our favorites is jiko at AKL as is artist point at WL. brown derby in mgm is very good. these are just a few that we have enjoyed many times. one that we both enjoy is afternoon tea at the GF. i would suggest to book your time whenever you all are accustomed of dining. good luck! :earboy2:

Welcome to the Dis!!! We are glad you found us. :wave2:

First off, here is a link to the Dis's dining page.
http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining.htm#hm-dining-nav
You will find lots of great info there including a link to a Priority Seating calculator which will let you know how far in advance you can book a PS(most places are 90 days in advance). The number to call is 1 407-WDW-DINE.

For non character breakfasts some of our favorites are Kona Cafe in the Polynesian or Boma in the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We also very much enjoy picking up a quick breakfast on the go at the Main St Bake Shop or the Boardwalk Bakery.

Some of our other favorites, depending what we are in the mood for are Yachtsman Steakhouse(Yacht Club) for a nicer, more upscale meal, Mama Melrose(MGM) for Italian, Kona Cafe or Ohana(both at the Poly) for food with an Asian flair, and ESPN for casual, bar food. Keep reading these boards and Im sure you will hear about all the great restaurants WDW has to offer. It is hard to narrow it down to just a few.

My husband and I enjoy going to Tony's in Magic Kingdom. We've always had excellent food and service.

You can check out recent menus of the Disney restaurants at http://www.allearsnet.com. It may help you make some choices if you know what kind of food is served at each restaurant.

Enjoy your trip!

Some additional ones we love:
Rose and Crown in EPCOT for appetizers and happy hour
Le Cellier for dinner (EPCOT)
Biergarten for lunch (EPCOT)
Ohana at the Poly for dinner
Sci Fi Drive inn at MGM for lunch
Mama Melrose at MGM for dinner

There is a Birnbaum's Guide specifically for adults going to WDW without children; plus a DIS board for your group as well. Haunt that Board for awhile, you will see some excellent advice from those who truly know. :cool1:

We really loved Ohana's. The food was good and a little different which was nice. We had a window seat and a view of the castle. We had a great time. It is not fine dinning but it was great and the frozen drinks are the best that I ever had. Yummy!

Hi Renee! One of our favorite things to do at WDW is try new restaurants. Our last trip we were quite pleased with our new discoveries which were the Yachtsman Steakhouse at The Yacht Club Resort and Alfredos at Epcot. Others we have really enjoyed include Narcoosee's which sits on the pier of the Grand Floridian overlooking the Seven Seas Lagoon, and has a wonderful view of Cinderella's Castle, Le Cellier at Epcot, Hollywood Brown Derby at Disney MGM.

For more moderately priced meals, we have enjoyed Mama Melrose at Disney MGM, Dinner at Kona Cafe at the Polynesian, Breakfast at Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge, and lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern at the Magic Kingdom.

Many others give rave reviews to California Grill, which does have a wonderful view of the Magic Kingdom, Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge and Flying Fish at the Boardwalk. We haven't tried the 1st two as the menu selections don't appeal to us, and we just haven't yet had the opportunity to enjoy Flying Fish.

The Swan and the Dolphin also have wonderful restaurants, but if you are on the dining plan or have DDE, I am not sure if they participate: those restaurants include Fresh for breakfast, Palio, Shulas and Blue Zoo. If you like sushi, Kimonos is very popular, and if you stay late enough, you can participate in Karoke.

Hope you enjoy your vacation at WDW and also the wonderful selection of restaurants!:)

Blue Zoo is my new favorite. There is a great deal of seafood and a great oyster and clam bar with a wide variety of each (good if you like oysters and clams). There were a number of non-seafood items, but I'd only want to spend the money if I was going to go for seafood. The decor is very thoughtful and the wait staff are very knowledgable. I'd check out the menu on allearsnet.com.
