Nice decent place for dinner before we see a play in NYC...Party of 3, me, dh and dd17. Any recommendations? thanks!

We considered the French/Moroccan restaurant...
Can't remember the name!
It was just up the street from where we stayed at the Intercontinental.

Either Carmine's or Tony's Times Square. I think Carmine's is better but reservations are harder to get. Both are Italian.

Make sure wherever you go you get a reservation beforehand, especially if it's a Friday night or a weekend!

My family loves Sardi's or Ellen's Stardust Diner. Sardi's has a wonderful price-fixe menu that is affordable and delicious and it's fun seeing all the caricatures on the wall. I've never had any problems with reservations and we've done the before a show and after-show sitting.

Ellen's Stardust Diner is just great fun! You get dinner and a show. I've never made reservations but you could try, we've always been able to get in with a few minutes wait.

I like Carmine's but just remember that the servings are huge so really consider sharing an entree.

It's always fun to just walk around and pick a place. We do that at least 2x a year when we have time.

Have a great time this is a great time of the year to go into NYC.

Bar Americain at 52nd and 7th. It's one of Bobby Flay's restaurants and we try to eat here each time we visit NYC.

I love Carmine's but it can be very busy. It is family style, so if you have normal appetites, I'd consider something else.

Virgil's is good, and not usually as busy:

Ellen’s Stardust is great for the singing waitstaff, the food is okay. They don’t take reservations. Off hours are best. Avoiding Friday/Sat night is also best.

Junior's - more like a diner, but GREAT cheesecake! and good food.
Angelo's for pizza (I believe 54th street)
Patsy's - 56th street

We go to Juniors a lot but no reservarions so give yourself extra time.

A little nicer places we like are Tony D'Napolies which is family style Italian, Orso (tuscan italian) or if you want a steak house Gallagher's is classic NYC steakhouse so a little expensive but so worth it.

If you want classic pre-theater experience in NYC go to Sardi's

We love Ellen's Stardust but only for breakfast which still has the singing waitstaff. Since we have family in Manhattan we don't usually eat in Times Square for big meals. We ate at Schnipper's Quality Kitchen for fast food last time which was decent.

The Brazilian Churrascaria on 49th between 8th and 9th is our must do.

A lot of people like Carmine's, its just ok. There are way better Italian restaurants in the area.
Becco's is amazing, we had one of our best Italian meals there ever. It's in the Theatre District too.

We usually hit Juniors after the show for dessert, its a must do.

Have a wonderful time :)
