Ate at California Grill Saturday night and then again last night. Overnight the entire menu prices changed anywhere from $1 each to $3 each. Deserts went up a buck each and some entree's went up $3 each. Beef Tenderloin is now $44 ($41 two days ago). Server says this is a system wide adjustment and not just holiday pricing and will be in effect at all restaurants.

Thanks for the update.

It was bound to happen... I wonder how much the regular TS prices rose. :surfweb:

Holy Cow!!!! I guess that is one way to go on a diet:) Or as Patsy Clairmont says" I edit my life" diet with letters rearranged..

Well, that should certainly help the economy, eh! :lmao:

Yep, it's called "deflation". Economy is tanking, people aren't spending as much, but companies (like Disney) need to increase their shrinking revenues so they raise prices in a down market. It's not a good thing to see happening.

I saw some price increases at the signature restaurants on Deb's recently - Disney is nuts...$40+ bucks for a boring filet!!!

We are going to be very selective what we order at the restaurants from now on (ie. we don't order steak at Cellier anymore and stick with salmon, pork, chicken entrees etc. which are far more reasonably priced).

Actually, deflation is the opposite of inflation. It's a general decrease in prices. What's going on at WDW is an example of inflation.

My theory is that they are trying to price higher to encourage more folks to use 2TS credits (which are a poor value at signature restaurants w/o an appetizer - this is why we gave up on the DDP).

It also makes their Dining Plans look a little more attractive!:)

You've hit the nail on the head. It's Disney's way of manipulating us. Raise prices to make the Dining Plan look more attractive and a better value.

I would look even better if you didnt have to tip on the dining plan based on the new numbers....

Bingo! The sad thing is that the selections, portions and quality continue to decline. That said, Disney is not too concerned because their first interest is in making a profit for their stockholders and most guests are not the 2-3 visits per year for the last 10-15 year period to be able to compare and note the decline. Disney is making huge money with the DDP and continue to increase the profit margins by increasing costs and cutting back on the more expensive and popular dishes.

See this is why DH made me cancel our Cali Grill for next week ( I know I know I cannot believe I did it either).

We use the DDE card but still he was flipping on $13 appies, $10 drinks, $10 desserts and $41 filet. Wait until I tell him about the $3 increase!

His reasoning was this, for the price of Cali Grill we can do 2 TS places and he isnt a fu fu guy so he prefers other places.....oh well maybe next year I can convince him otherwise

Restaurant prices are going up all over the country, not just at Disney World. The price of fuel is the main reason. The only way to get anything to any final destination is by truck. And trucks need fuel.

You can't really pin the increases on the Dining Plan. This was going to happen Dining Plan or no Dining Plan.

I hope they don't go up too much I have two ADR's (O'Hana and Cape May Clam Bake) for the first week of December and if they go up too much we'll have to cancel. We're on a strict budget for this trip.

As a disney Stockholder, I expect the company to work to be profitable. My IRA appreciates it, and I will enjoy actually having money to retire. As a tourist, it makes me cringe to see the continued price increases and service declines. The investor in me thinks its short-sighted of the company, as the immediate gains will ultimately off-set with decreased attendance if people feel that the vacation is no longer a "good value". Even with the "magic" and "mouse" there will still be a point where the time spent there will be simply a waste of money...the tourist is still finding in favor of WDW, this year, but will be looking hard at other options in the future.

Sorry, meant to say "Stagflation".

That also becomes a vicious cycle that can spiral a company right out of the market!

Definitely not good for Disney!

I'm paying OOP with the DDE card for the Crystal Palace lunch next month. Guess I'll be eating more to get my money's worth.

DH wants to just do a couple of TS's next June instead of one per day since he didn't like "being on a schedule" (his words not mine.LOL). With the price increase and us using DDE, it'll actually make more sense.

I wonder if Disney will find less folks eating TS or more folks getting the dining plan?
