I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on Restaurant Marrakesh (good or bad)? I'm thinking of booking it for the CP package but I'm not sure since DH is VERY picky (worse than a child). Is the food very spicy or more mild?

My ADR window opens on Friday and I'm all over the place with what to do.
Thanks in advance,
Laurie

I found the food pretty mild but I am used to middle eastern food, so it didn't seem that spicy to me. The flavors are different but not crazy IMO, however, picky eaters may not see a lot that is familiar, and may be unhappy. Maybe you can go over the menu with your husband?

I was there last Septemer on the DDP. I'll share with you my experience...

The restaurant was beautiful, a cool and comfortable break from the outside heat, and the belly dancer was wonderful. We were able to catch her performance twice. Which we all enjoyed.

Now onto the food... I had the Lemon Chicken and as previous poster mentioned the food is very mild and not full of flavors. I was suffering from a bit of a head cold so that may have played a part in my lack of enjoyment.

My mother had the vegetable couscous, she ate it but said it needed something more... so she took the juice from the Lemon Chicken and added it to her plate for a little more "Umphf".

My brother got the best meal... kabobs... I'm not sure chicken or beef but he shared and it was very yummy. Thanks little bro for sharing... :rotfl:

We each got a different dessert - Moroccan Symphony, Marrakesh Delight, and Bastilla. All were delicious and a perfect finish to the meal.

Long story, longer... considering the entertainment, atmosphere, dessert and now I know what entree to order I would go again.

Hope this helps in your decision!

It's one of my favorite WS table service restaurants!

Keep in mind, the food has been very "Arericanized" so dont be afraid of the spices.

We did not enjoy the food at all. We felt it was like Denny's trying to do Middle Eastern. When we were there, there were several little girls who stood up and tried to imitate the belly dancer, which was cute. Then a stomach bulging very drunk man got up and tried to dance with her. He was disgusting.

We would not go back.

Thanks everyone, I think we will try it. If DH doesn't like the food we'll have to grab a snack after our meal:laughing: He claims it's no big deal I can do whatever makes me happy:thumbsup2. I think he's just sick of all this planning.
Thanks again,
Laurie

It's been five years since I've been there, but it was one of my favorite Disney restaurants during the last two visits. I've had authentic Moroccan food elsewhere, and what you get there is pretty authentic, if a little tame. Picky folks can probably get a chicken kabob over rice or something pretty plain.

If you like it spicy, be sure to ask for harissa. This is a spicy pepper condiment that is fabulous. I'm used to having that at Moroccan restaurants, and when we asked for it, they brought some. I'm not sure it's on the menu, so you may have to ask. It's definitely worth it!

My husband and I took his daughter there several years ago when she was about 12. The belly dancer was going around tagging different people to get up and dance with her. She tagged my husband. He got up and imitated everything she did. His daughter's expression was priceless. I think she nearly died of embarrassment. She's 22 now but still remembers that!
