ETA: I meant to put this on the podcast forum, but as I'm kind of an idiot, it's here. Guess I'm still Representing.
I flippin love that place. It's my favorite! I didn't work up the courage to go there until 2004 or 2005, but I've gone every trip since. The whole pavillion is just lovely.
I've never had anything but stellar service. Not the "Look at what great service I give" kind of nice, but just genuinely (or really well-faked) nice, bordering on kind. Always a guy waiter. Always, always, always. And it is always clean. Not everyone notices clean/dirty like I do, but the place is possibly the cleanest (non-frou-frou, I don't do frou-frou) restaurant at WDW. The inside restrooms (Ladies', anyway) are always very clean, too. (The ones outside...cleanish.)
Love the Beef Brewat Rolls. It is a new and different taste and I know people get grossed out by the thought of them. But someone was once saying, "Peanut butter and JELLY?! Ew!" If you can put the unusual (for we Americans) combination out of your head and concentrate on the taste, you might be very pleasantly surprised. Everyone I've forced to try them has been - and they all started out wincing, frowning and turning up their noses, too. It's good!! I used to love it when I could get them - big ones - for dinner.
Lemon chicken is an excellent dinner (and Bastilla the best dessert choice, IMO) for the non-adventurous.
I never had lunch there, I don't think, but dinner portions are more than I can finish.
It was much busier there on May 23 than it has been on any of my previous visits, so maybe I'll soon stop plugging the place - don't want it to get too popular! But I really don't want to see it go away or turn into
a BANG-BANG-BAM-BAM character meal like my beloved Tusker House breakfast did.
I vote "Give it a shot!!"
But I'm no Kevin.
