restaurant inside Pirates

When I was a kid I remember a restaurant inside the Pirates ride. Sitting at your table you could see the cannons being shot from the ships. On the ride you passed all the dinner eatting their meal.
Does this still exist?

Yep. Blue Bayou restaurant serves lunch and dinner and takes Priority Seating requests 60 days out.

Although, I think your memory is a bit off, you don't see the cannons being shot unless you are on the ride. You just see the Bayou scene and boats floating by while you are dining at the restaurant.

Yes, it's still there serving up lunch and dinner on the verandah of that lovely plantation house - the Blue Bayou. Although seeing cannons firing while dining at the restaurant has never been in DL's version, I've read that the DL Paris version does have a little bit more to it than just watching the bateaux glide by.

Thank you for your replies. I have to be honest and tell you my dad would never let us eat there (even though we all begged and pleaded). So, thank you for setting my mind straight as to what the scenery is from the restaurant.

How is the food? Is it a restaurant worth going to?

I think it is too expensive for the food you get. Even though you are really paying for the ambiance, it is still pretty expensive. I always give in and eat there anyway when we go because it's so fun to eat inside a ride. But the food is way overpriced. You can see the menu/prices on allears.net

When we go in May we are going to go once for lunch and then again for dessert. I think we may end up splitting our lunch meal instead of each getting our own this time.

Yeah there isnt much to see on the Bayou at DL except a shack with an old man sitting on the porch playing a banjo, as well as the pirate boats going by, but its still a crazy cool atmosphere in the restaurant because its like your outside in the bayou with the light from lanterns etc.

You will find that there are so many mixed reviews about the Blue Bayou. For me its over priced, the food isnt great, and the menu is really minimal (Especially if your a veggie). But if your going for the atmosphere I wouldnt give it a rate of 10 I would definately give it a 13 Especially if you can get a water side table.

It is definitely cool for a 1 time thing, but I wouldnt go more than that. we had a vegetarian in our party that was very disappointed with the options.

Sadly, no. The food, menu options and service have all gone downhill. The money would be better spent grabbing a little Disney Magic at a character meal or, for a more formal meal, one of the many lovely restaurants in the hotels.

Our last experience at Blue Bayou was pretty disappointing. It was for lunch and still costs about 20+ dollars each. My wife had crabcakes that smelled fishy and were undercooked. The waitress said they were having problems in the kitchen. The only time we will go back will be for dessert only. You still cannot beat the mood of the place and sometimes one of the Billy Hills will play music from the veranda.

I loved BB when we went 2 weeks ago; we had 4:30 ressies for an early dinner. However, my 5yoDD didn't like it. The next night at Hook's Point restaurant at DLH, she ordered the macaroni and cheese. I said, "You just had that last night at Blue Bayou!" She said, "Yeah, Mom, but I couldn't eat it because it was too dark and creepy in there." It feels like you are eating on a verandah. We were under the branches of a big tree with chinese lanterns strung on the branches and shining softly. The crickets were chirping. The moon was shining on the bayou hidden by a wispy cloud that changed shape (love the scenery!). It was odd afterward to come back out into the bright sunlight! However for all the ambiance it's not peaceful... the place is always packed and the servers always look kind of harried, though ours was very nice. I concur that the food is not special and is very expensive. Still loved it for the ambiance.

I've eaten at BB twice, love the atmosphere ~ the food is fine but overpriced. We have a 11:30 PS for Tues the 22nd ~ we'll be having dessert only.

I ate there about three weeks ago - I have to agree with everyone else that the food wasn't really my style and was WAY to expensive - Dessert was GREAT!

if you request a seat by the water you will have to wait a little longer (for us it was 20 min) but it was so wonderful -

After reading lots and lots of reviews, we think the four of us will share a Monte Crisco at Cafe Orleans for a snack, then order the Cookie boat, Key Lime Pie and Creme Brulee duo at our table and the four of us share that (can you say sugar high!--but we want to try them all!)
