As I was reading the favorite yesteraunts thread, I thought about what I would add if I had the purse strings @ WDW. While there are rides and resorts that would be ahead of restaurants, I would still like to see the following:

1.) A rennaisance of "Broadway at the Top."
2.) A sit-down restaurant at the American Adeventure. Why is the American Pavillion the only WS destination without a premier restaurant?
3.) An Epcot resort with a Dinner Show. (Ariels could be a neat location with some work.)

What would y'all do?

...that they'd bring back the Jolly Holidays Christmas show they used to have at the Contemporary. We were dying to see it, and finally made plans, and they scrapped it the Christmas we went!

One of the "news items" on the main page here mentioned a European company that was producing ice shows for theme parks. Wouldn't THAT be a neat addition to WDW? Disney on Ice is doing nicely on the road -- wouldn't a version somewhere, maybe at Epcot, be -- literally -- cool? ;)

I would definitely reopen Ariel's. The theming and decor there is spectacular!

I also agree with the Broadway at the Top, and the Jolly Holidays Dinner Show!

Oddly enough, my 2001 Unofficial Guide says that a sit-down restaurant at the American Pavilion was in the works. Obviously this project was cancelled or postponed.

Ariels is at the Beach Club and it is such wasted space. This would be a great place for a dinner with a show

Ariel's was a beautiful white-glove service restaurant catering to those in the know...for fine cuisine. The service and food were impecable. What a loss  and a shame  that it closed. That's all I have to say about that!!
Happy Thanksgiving to all, Wilma:wave:

Those are great ideas, Demosthenes. i've also always wondered why they don't have a good restaurant at the American pavillion.

And Crisi - I like your idea of a Thai or Indian place at AK.

Ariels is used but it is used for conventions and private affairs. I have seen dinners being held for convention groups and wedding receptions held here. I think with the opening of the Boardwalk and the additional restaurants this area was overloaded with restaurants and maybe Disney saw a more profitable use for the space?

We talked about this same thing on our way home from WDW last week. I'd like to see a villains dinner brought back. I think I read that there used to be one in Epcot???? All of the teenagers I've talked to would prefer that to the princesses and other characters....except Mickey/Goofy/Tigger!

After watching Peter Pan and Capt. Hook battle each other on the castle, and seeing them run right outside of the windows while we were eating, we decided we'd like to have a dinner where the characters would "battle" each other right there in the restaurant. Maybe the good guys could come out and meet and greet, then the villains, then fake the battle. I know this is a very basic plan....that's why I'M not in Disney Imagineering!! But it would be fun!

Great ideas.:) Everyone has different tastes but IMHO our pavalion has some of the weakest food at WS.It could be so much better.

Actually the Villains Dinner used to be at the Grand Floridian at 1900 Park Faire. When the Pooh and friends breakfast closed at Artist's Point back in 2001, they moved Pooh to 1900 Park Faire for dinner, and did away with the villains dinner. I had heard you either "loved" it, or "hated" it. We had planned to go there in May of 2001, but it had already switched.

We had PS for the Villain dinner. Showed up and saw Piglet dancing through the waiting area. Why would Piglet be with the Villains? They had just changed it over the week prior and we didn't have a clue.:( LOL now.

I would love to see something geared towards boys. Maybe a character meal with such characters as Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Tarzan, Aladdin, etc. Although my son loves all the characters, he would really love something a bit more boyish than Cindy's Castle or the Storybook Princess meals.

I also miss the Jolly Holidays Show. The Dinner was packed when we went, so I could not understand why they cancelled it.

I heard a rumor that a Buzz/Woody character meal was in the works. I hope it comes true.

Many moons ago, I suggested on these very pages what I (very cleverly, I thought) dubbed a Disney "Breakfast of Champions."

It would be sports/hero themed ... with traditional Disney characters in sports costumes (Mickey, Goofy, Donald et al) plus a few newer ones, like Hercules, Tarzan, Woody and Buzz.

Come on, Disney! Go for the gold! The girls could could go do their princess thing at the castle, and the boys could do their sports star thing elsewhere. (ESPN Club, perhaps??)

:bounce:
