We will be leaving this Saturday and staying 2 nights at Portofino at Universal. We are then moving over to AKV for one little ole' night (then off to HH for 3 nights). We are not going to any parks. My multi-part question:

1. Should we get the DDP for the one night (as a DVC member we can do this) or just pay OOP?
2. Should we go to Boma - but we are not buffet fans AT ALL; or,
3. Should we go to Boardwalk and eat at Spoodles if on the DDP or ESPN Club if not?

My DS8 has not been to AKL and my 19 year old Stepson has not been to either AKL or the Boardwalk.

TIA:thumbsup2

If you aren't buffet fans, skip Boma. I'm not a buffet fan either and was convinced Boma would be different enough....it isn't. I've been back since and enjoyed it with "buffet expectations."

However, I'm not sure I'd want to leave AKL - if you are there for the night its to enjoy the Lodge. Mara is actually darn good for counter service and Jiko is good as well.

Jiko's, the other TS restaurant in AKL, is great! :thumbsup2 You can check out the menu on the dining site.
IMHO, it's one of the better dining choices in WDW. :goodvibes

Actually, I have eaten at Jiko's several times (always on girls only trips). I guess I should have mentioned that. I like it, but my DH is very, very tight when it comes to spending money on food and I just don't think that's an option. :goodvibes He'd be just as happy eating popcorn::
