Are there any decent restaurants that deliver to Emerald Island? Type of food doesn't really matter. I'm just thinking of something quick and easy for our first night there, as we don't get in until almost 7 pm.

TIA!

I know there is a company that will deliver from a selection of restaurants, but I personally don't think they are the best restaurants to get food from. One of the restaurants I would recommend avoiding!

There are the following that we have used/eaten at:

Flippers Pizza 407 397 9509
--a decent pizza
--delivery

Ace Plus Chinese Buffet 407 390 7588
--OK for chinese but not stunning
--delivery

Mr Kongs Chinese 800 963 5664
--better for chinese IMHO
We actually ate onsite here, but I would guess they deliver. Worth asking.

In the local Formosa Gardens plaza there are the following that have to-go sections (order by phone about 25 mins prior and then just collect - it could be done on your way past or just one person nip out one you arrive.)

TGI Fridays 407 397 4300
Outback Steakhouse 407 396 0017
Giordanos 407 397 0044

Take a look at http://www.stayatemeraldisland.com/GuestInfo/Restaurants.php for a list of local eateries.

Have a great trip,

Kay

Hi, I would suggest take out from Giordono's Pizza in the mall just a couple of minutes drive from the EI. You will pass the mall on your right after you turn onto Formosa Gardens Blvd from Hwy 192. From there you go about a mile to a stop sign that says Funie Steed Rd...turn Right, go under a Interstate Overpass and EI is right there. Drive back to the mall is easy and quick.

There are multiple options for take out there. There is a Outback, sub shops, but we really like the pizza.

You could even call them once you leave the airport and pick up the pizzas on the way to the house. It is about 25 minutes from the final airport exit right to Giordono's and then 2-3 minutes to the entrance to EI. Phone: 407-397-0044. Remember, in the Disney area you ALWAYS need to dial the area code, even for a local call.
Here is the menu:

Their stuffed pizza is the specialty, and it feeds a lot of hungry folks...there is also big Marketplace Grocery there that is expensive, but would be OK for some soft drinks, beer, or what you need for the first night...If they are closed, there is a Walgreens all night store just across 192 for essentials late.

Just a thought, but lots cheaper than delivered meals and guaranteed fresh......have a great time...Ted

We must be odd then, because we didn't like Giordano's, but I know a lot of people rave about their pizza's.

Oh, and just so you know, the Emerald Island Concierge in the clubhouse keeps a small stock of essentials (bread, milk, etc) for purchase so that you don't have to run out to the store on your first evening - great for a first morning breakfast.

Also consider using GardenGrocer or WeGoShop to get your essential groceries picked up for you. One less thing to think about on vacation!

We are definitely considering Gardengrocer. I have no desire to go grocery shopping on vacation!! :)

I was thinking about pizza, but I'm wondering something about Giordanos. Is it "florida pizza"? We're southern New Englanders - and we're used to New York pizza, and I'm kind of fussy about it. :rolleyes1

So, can anyone who's been there tell me if it's thick or thin crust? Crispy or chewy?

Thanks!

(and thanks for the rest of the suggestions. I forget sometimes that Outback, etc, do curbside pick up now!).

They are Chicago style pizza restaurant - their website is here http://www.giordanos.com/menu.php

I don't know what a New York Pizza is (sorry) - we like the traditional Italian Style pizza. I didn't like the crust at Giordano's (can't remember why, just something about it didn't work for us) but I do know others have raved about it. We did enjoy the Flippers pizza - not traditional thin italian crust - more a softer crust.

There is also a drive through Taco Bell on the Formosa Plaza - not my choice for food, but some people like it. It is open late.

I'm ok with Chicago style. New York pizza is thin crispy crust. Chicago's (iirc) is a little bit thicker. I'm guessing you like the same kind of pizza we do!

Thanks for all the info. We're not getting in overly late - it will probably be close to 8 pm before we get to the house. So, I doubt that everything will be closed. I just don't know that we're going to be in the mood for a sit down meal, or for an extended search for something quick.
