Anyone experience less than stellar service when using restaurant.com gift certificates? Maybe it was just a total fluke, but I went to a local italian restaurant last night and used a restaurant.com gift certificate. I have been to this place many times before (but not for a few years); it has a great reputation for good food etc. it's been around forever. Showed the waitress our gift certificate when we ordered (like it says to). We waited no lie 50 minutes for our food; she never brought my salad, DD had to wait an extra 10 minutes for her dressing, appetizers took 30 minutes to come out etc. It was not super busy either. A couple sat down next to us about 30 minutes after we sat and had their pizzas before we got our food:confused3. The waitress did come by a few times while servicing surrounding tables and said "just a few minutes" etc . Like I said, maybe it was a total fluke but we will not be returning there:guilty:
 
I've used the certificates and other coupons with no problems. Perhaps they were just having a service issue when you were there? It probably wasn't related to the certificate...it really wouldn't make sense for a restaurant to want to lose customers. :confused3
 
Sorry you had that experience. I use Restaurant.com cards all the time. In fact, it went to 80% off today........code is FUN

Newbies to Restaurant.com, but we've used ours for three local restaurants, and have had wonderful service for all three.

It sounds like a restaurant service/management issue more than the coupon. I would write a letter to the owner explaining what happened. I get the feeling from the Restaurant.com coupons that it's so that you try out the restaurant, and that you'd be willing to go back in the future (even without a coupon). If this was poor service based on simply having a coupon, in my letter I'd recommend that they remove their listing because it's doing more harm than good.
 

I would definitely contact the manager. There's no excuse for that kind of service. :( Sorry you had a bad experience but I really doubt it's from using the cert. We use them all the time and don't have issues like that. :)
 
thanks...I figured it was a fluke, but I kept thinking maybe it was because we were using a certificate. I noticed about the 80% off today too...I bought my certificate last week at 50% off:guilty:
 
We've never had bad service when using a certificate. I'm sorry your experience was so bad. Hopefully that won't happen to you again!
