I can't decide where to eat on NYE. We have two boys (they will be 4yo and 7yo). We'll be staying at SSR, and plan on being back there later in the evening. We can't do 'Ohana or Beaches and Cream because of my son's peanut allergy. Where would you choose???? Thanks!

We were at WDW during NYE in 2003 and ate at 'Ohana's in the Polynesian on NYE. This was the first time we had eaten there and now it is our favorite restaurant. They also have some fun activities at the restaurant for kids. You can look on allearsnet.com to read about this restaurant. :goodvibes

We ate at Citrico's last NYE. We watched the earlier fireworks from the GF marina, then went to dinner before walking along the path to view the midnight fireworks from our room at the Poly. It was the perfect evening. Any of the GF restaurants might be nice so you can see the early fireworks. :)

We can't do 'Ohana because of my son's peanut allergy (we did eat there 3 times before his diagnosis though, and it was always fun). Thank you, though!

Is it ok to bring kids to Citirico's??? Thanks for the responses!!!

It sure is! Ours are 6 and 10 and love going there. It is more formal than most, but children are welcome and they have a kids menu.

Are you able to do Kona or do they share kitchens with 'Ohana? That may be another more informal option so you can watch the fireworks from the Poly beach. :)

Kona is fine--- I was thinking about that. It's not really the way the food is prepared that's the problem (Disney is so careful)--- at 'Ohana there is a peanut dipping sauce which is put out on all of the tables. They will keep it off of your table for you-- but the fact that it has been on the table every day before you get there (people dipping their food on it, getting it on their hands etc)--- if it's not thoroughly cleaned off then my son could be at risk of anaphylaxis. So we are avoiding it from now on (although we've been there without incident). Maybe Kona would be a good idea. But, Citrico's is sounding nice too. Thanks!

Our two NYEs at WDW we had dinner at HoopdeeDoo. It was a fun way to celebrate without the craziness of the parks.

Last NYE we went to Wolfgang Puck's. After dinner, we walked around DD and they were having NYE parties for kids. They were hula-hooping and dancing and having a great time. My 8 and 6 year old boys loved it! Especially when we went to Ghirardelli's for dessert!

That sounds like fun and would be easy from SSR.

That does sound like a good time. Thanks! My husband and son really wanted to do Rainforest Cafe (they love it there)--- but I wanted something a little more Disney. Wolfgang Puck's may be a good idea though--- we've never eaten there.

We had never eaten there before either. It was very good (especially the squash soup!) and there were other families eating there with their chlidren. I didn't mind so much that it wasn't Disney themed because we were going to spend so much time at the parks and the NYE party for kids was very Disney-esque!

As a side note, my kids had a great time, too, at the Lego store.

Have a great time!
