Restaurant Akershus Princess Breakfast

I have ADR's at the Resturant Akershus for the Princess Breakfast in Epcot. I am starting to wonder if I should canccel this. Does anyone have any thoughts?

We went to the PSB breakfast in August 2005. We are glad we experienced it, but would not do it again. We didn't really care for the food and thought that we were there way too long for a meal. We had an 8:05 ADR, thinking we'd get there and be out by park opening. We couldn't get into the parking lot until 8:00, so by the time we walked to Norway it was about 8:10 to 8:15 and we still waited a good 15 minutes to get our table, with the restaurant mostly empty. It took a while for the waitress to get to our table and bring drinks. We had sticky buns and mixed fruit and then a skillet with bacon, eggs, sausage and potatoes. The characters came to our table about 30 to 45 minutes into our meal. Two of them missed our table and we had to wait until they finished their rounds to get back to us. We did not get out of the restaurant until about 10:15 and by then the park had been open an hour and 15 minutes and was already getting busy. Of course I asked our kids what one restaurant each of them would like to pick on our WDW trip last month and guess what they picked...Yep, PSB breakfast. We had them pick another choice. Again, we were happy we experienced it, but would rather do a character dinner instead. One thing we really like about all character meals is not waiting in line on a hot day to get the character autograph's and pictures. We love eating dinner at the Garden Grill and would really recommend that as a great character dining experience. The food is good and the character interaction is the best of 6 character meals we've experienced.

Thanks! I think I will take your advice, do CS for breakfast that day then try Garden Grill for dinner. Yes, I feel much better about that.

Subscribing! I have a PSB ADR too, and have been debating cancelling it. The adult menu doesn't appeal to me at all, and we're already going to CRT and Cinderellas Gala Feast at GF - I'm only holding back because I don't know if we'll see the other Princesses anywhere else.

My concern is I found a picture of the breakfast plate on the food pic thread (gotta break that addiction lol) it looked like McDonalds food at best. I am worried about that.

We have been to the princess storybook breakfast twice since Aug 05, we also have another ADR for March. We absolutly LOVE it!! The food is great & the princesses are wonderful. I will continue to go to this for as long as I can.

I have to agree with above poster. We loved it! I thought the food was a 7 on a scale of 1-10, but interaction and atmosphere, definately a 10! We weren't there that long, saw all princesses while we ate, Didn't have to wait long to be seated, it was excellent. Will be doing CRT again next trip, but will do PSB again in the future.

my fanily went to the psb this past october. and loved it. great character breakfast. food was great. the character interaction was fabulous. my girls loved it and we will do it again. awesome.

Okay, so if we're doing CRT do we really need to do PSB too?

It seems like its a 50/50 review for the psb, we decided to try it since crt takes 2 ts and that we went there last. Is the food decent, this isn't the first place that I have seen mixed reviews so I am kinda curious if we need to cancel this or not.

I agree - the breakfast food is about a 7, but I don't think that is bad! The Princesses were very sweet and we all had a good time.

I think it must depend on the day. We have been here 3 times. The 3rd time was just awful so we are going to do the lunch this year. We really enjoyed the lunch. Again, it probably depends on the day too. I had the chicken for lunch. We went to see Ariel with legs.

We just returned from Disney and did this breakfast last week. I definitely have to give it a thumbs down. The interaction with the princesses was "okay", but the food was really not very good at all. We have no intentions on returning to this one.

On my last trip we went to both CRT and PSB. Unless you have little girls who are dying to meet the princesses, it is overkill. Just pick one (I would pick CRT, but that's just me). At Akershus the food was just typical breakfast food. All of it was cold when we went. The cinnamon rolls were stale too. We also had better character interaction at CRT. I really could live with never going to this restaurant again, it took forever and the food was mediocre at best.

We just returned and had breakfast at PSB on January 28th - my girls enjoyed it, but we actually had better interaction with the princesses in the Toontown area at the MK. As for the food, it wasn't anything too special - but it wasn't "bad". It was a very fast breakfast and we were in and out faster than I had anticipated. As soon as one princess would come out, visit, and walk away; the next princess was out. We were at the table next to the door that the princesses come out of, so they would come to our table first. It was very nice and efficient that way. The service was good.

I guess I would say that this wasn't a dissappointment, but not something we would "have" to do again.

Maybe it would have effected me differently if we weren't on the dining plan and I didn't hand over $106. On a scale of 1 - 5 (5 being the best) we ranked it a 3 in our travel journal.

Just a little tip~
If you want TIME with the princess characters, do not do a meal. Most of the characters are on a timed schedule to do the restaurant and therefore time spent with each family is shortened. They are allowed 50 minutes to see 50 or so tables. Please don't blame them because they do want to see your children but at dinning it's all about turning the tables for the next group. Toontown is a much better bet for time with the princesses. Have fun though.

While I agree that you can catch the princesses at Toontown and spend a bit more time with them than at the PSB, the actual time you get with each one isn't that much more unless you count standing in line awaiting your turn as part of "seeing" the princesses. Further, they only have three princesses at any one time at Toontown, so you have to keep checking back to see which one is there throughout any given day (though CMs have been known to drop a hint or two).

At the PSB, you get four or five princesses all at once, albeit for just a few moments at your table. However, we have found in our visits that the interaction is still quite special and our daughter has loved the PSB each time. As for the food, it is what it is--breakfast food. It's rather hard to mess up breakfast as long as the food is warm which ours has been each time (I understand the complaints of those whose food has been cold). The sausage, bacon, and cheesy potatoes have been quite good, and the fruit fresh and tasty. Our service has also been excellent. So, my vote would be a huge .

We liked PSB. We'll go back again if our DD6 and DD7 wish to. One thing to remember, with the character meals we've experienced - You're not going for the food! It's a chance to have an average quality meal and give your children time to meet their favorite princesses / characters. We saw Belle, Jasmine, Snow White, Aurora, Alice in Wonderland, and Mary Poppins. Snow White was awesome, and the time she spent with us was just about worth the price of admission in itself. Each character was gracious and talked with us and our children. They didn't seem to be in a rush to get to the next table. Our meal started at 9am and Akershus was not very busy at that point, so that may also have enhanced our experience. It was quite full when we left. Our server was good - he checked on us regularly and brought refills or second (and third) helpings of anything we asked for. The food was ok. It's certainly not the best breakfast in town, but it was adequate. It was basically the same type of meal we were served at the Ohana character breakfast a few days later. We left with full bellies and a lot of good memories. Our DDs loved the experience though, and we did too.
