My son will be turning 5 while we are at Disney world. I wanted to go to a restaurant in MK to celebrate. Does anyone have any suggestions what would be the best choice? I would love to do a character dining, but it seems like they are centered around girls, and we have two boys. Also, can you order birthday cakes to be delivered to your table? Thanks for your help! :)

we always go to Crystal Palace for dinner ..with or without the grandkids... it is our favorite one for Characters and FOOD...Tigger, Winnie the pooh, Eeyore, and Piglet...they make it fun ..and a five year old boy will love it

Crystal Palace, and yes to the cake order.

Pooh and friends are great for everyone.

I have two boys as well, and we've even done both princess meals :) They are happy with any characters! At CRT they were given swords, and they thought that was awesome. My little one especially liked the Beast at BOG. We are trying Crystal Palace this year.

I think boys can enjoy Princess too ;)! All the choices are here: http://wdwprepschool.com/guide-to-all-disney-world-character-meals/

If you can, I'd go to Hollywood studio at the Hollywood & vine for the Disney junior breakfast... They sing songs and my son was crazy about it last summer (he was 5 too). He danced like crazy with the characters there!

Oh, and consider the 'Ohana breakfast with Stitch and friends. It's not in the MK, but just a monorail ride away.

Likewise, you could do Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary, a 5 minute walk or short monorail ride from the MK>

We are celebrating DGS 5th birthday on our MK day too (it will also be our 40th anniversary) :cake: To celebrate, we're going to HDDR, then back to MK for Wishes and the parade.

I would do dinner at Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort. CR is about a 15 minute walk from MK- no bus or monorail needed! All Disney restaurants have what they refer to as a "podium cake" that you can ask about at the podium when you check into a restaurant, but it's a generic Sara Lee type cake (they say they aren't frozen, but they are JUST like the frozen ones). However, you can get beautiful cakes from the Contemporary pastry chefs if you are eating at CM, the Wave, or Wilderness Lodge. Check out the Cake Chatter thread for the best way to do this. We had a beautiful cake delivered to Jiko for DD's 21st birthday; it was a 6" cake with 3 layers of red velvet cake with white chocolate mousse filling with raspberries, and vanilla frosting. Pretty colors, flowers and decorations- I think I paid about $35 (plus tip and tax, of course).

I would try Crystal Palace or Be our Guest for dinner. He may think that meeting the beast would be neat!

Are you set in stone on MK? If so I think CP as a character meal would be your best bet with a 5 YO. I like BOG, and if the boys would like to meet the Beast that is an option as wel, but this is not a real character experience, IMO.

I think that you could have a birthday breakfast at the Poly with Stitch and the gang. This is one fun meal, and teh food is good too.

I also like Chef Mickey's. You could plan that one for any meal, and go before or after your park time. I know a lot of people don't like this one, but my family does.

If you are planning to go to Animal Kingdom, how about Tusker House? This is one of the best chaacter meals on property. Really fin to see the characters in their safari clothes.
