Hey all!

I have heard very mixed reviews about this place. I heard the main complaint is that the hot foods used to be buffet style and now they are not, but you can order as many as you like? My fiancee and I have big appetites so this is disappointing because I would probably feel stupid ordering all this food haha! Anyways, any reviews on this place? Wwe only get to eat at one Epcot place so we wanna make it worth while (ps- we only eat fish and veggies! Thanks!)

I just wrote a review on Restaurant Akershus yesterday. It's under the title "My 1st Trip to WDW Dining Reviews - Part 3". Just scroll down a bit and you'll see it.

Don't feel stupid about ordering one than one dish here, that's what basically everyone does. It's a great restaurant!

I had lunch there by myself in August and the food is EXCELLENT. I didn't realize they used to do the hot food as a buffet, but I'd rather have hot food served per order anyway, it keeps it fresh. Hot food on a buffet gets old quickly. I would definitely recommend this restaurant, I'm sure the two of you would enjoy it very much!

As for only eating fish and veggies, there was plenty of cold fish on the cold buffet, and at least one fish dish on the hot menu.

We ate at Restaurant Akershus for lunch. We found the food fresh and tasty (the trout dish was a bit bland, but still good). The only con on ordering your hot dishes separately is that they will only allow you to order one per person at a time (although they will bring a Viking Favorites for the table in addition to the other entrees). So if you want seconds, no problem, but it does take longer as you need to reorder and wait for the second entree.

Great restaurant! It's DW's favorite on the planet - a must do for each trip.

It's a good feed. We have been several times, with the cold buffet there is plenty to eat. I did not feel silly about ordering multiple hot entrees, in fact it was encouraged by our server.

My favorite - Venison stew ! although the braised lamb was also good.

I also loved this restaurant and will return. I found the cold buffet to be even more interesting than the hot items. I could have made a meal out of just that!

The hot items were great, and the potions are small so don't feel bad ordering more than one thing. It is annoying that you can only get one item at a tme, though. I like to have an array of food in front of me so I can taste everything a little at a time. But DH and I made sure to order different items and share. I did not know they would bring an additonal "Viking's Favorites" for the table, so I will remember that for next time.

I found the atmosphere to be a bit lacking, but overall this is an excellent restaurant with very unique offerings!

I am not usually a "venison" type person, but it sounded interesting so I ordered it a couple of weeks ago. It is VERY good!

They had cod fish on the hot menu as well, Mom ordered that, it too was very good. While we did not order additional entrees, I would not feel "weird" doing so, you are encouraged by your servers to try as many as you like. Oh, and be sure to order some rutabagas as a veggie dish, they are great!

While I think I still preferred the hot buffet to the current order system, this is still one of our favorite places to eat at WDW. Unfortunately, our "big" meal of the day is usually lunch, so I'm soory to see they are now either Character Breakfast or Dinner ONLY.

Ate there in Sept, and was not impressed. Thought for the price (yes, I know WDW buffets are expensive, but this seemed to be very expensive for what we got) it was nothing to be excited over. Liked the pastry tray though. Hot food was pretty good, cold food I didn't like. And I've actually eaten in Norway --- spent 8 days there and liked the food overall.

Thought Boma's at AKL was a much better buffet and way more food and options for the money.

I ate here for the 1st time a few weeks ago and loved it. I will definately be back. I was told to order more than one entree , that the portions were very small. I was able to order 2 at once, my waiter just asked which I would prefer first. I had the salmon and then the vikings favorites. If you only eat fish and veggies, don't let the meatball scare you away from this last dish! I didn't care for the meatball(yes, only one is served with this) but the veggies were excellent. My server then talked me into trying the venison....it was excellent as well.Enjoy.

With the current ordering system, you can only order one item at a time, but as many as you want - and they seemed like full servings to me. I'm a sampler, so I really like to take a little bit of everything in the buffet, even if it's only one bite, and that's harder to do with the current system. While we will probably still go back, we were much more excited about the old buffet style.
