We're thinking of having lunch @ Planet Hollywood on August 1 for a late lunch around 2ish? Will we need a reservation?

Since you're planning an off-time, ressies probably won't be needed. That being said, I can't recommend PH based on our experience last summer. The food was average at best and so was the service. The place was also very LOUD, so much so that it upset some of the little ones in our large family group. To my mind, there are many other places to eat in DTD that are much better. Just my 2 cents.

I have changed, cancelled, ressies and I never had a problem getting the day or time I want and yes this is scary;) we are going in SEPT and we will get a 15.00 voucher from WDW we will have 2 since we have 2 ressies,so I figuered we will use them on our last day and go and grab a burger or app, this way if it is not as good as the reviews it will be our lesson learned and it wont cost us a thing, only time and the time is a couple of hours before we catch the plane to go home, HOPE THIS HELPS, KIMMIE

If you are using a voucher that came in your package, those times are considered "off-peak times" for dining, however, PH has a window where those can be used and everybody else who is using that voucher is trying to dine at the same time. If I wanted to dine there and use my voucher, I would go ahead and make a reservation.

I tried to book reservations last week for Planet Hollywood and was told that it is now a walk up only restraunt.

they have black out times for ADRs. we are going the last week of august and were told they were opting for walk up only that week. but my inlaws got ADRs for the week prior. i think during times like free dining they are opting not to use the ADR option because too mnay people no show at a restaurant like that.

I guess that explains it, thanks Jellybeans. I wish we were going the last week in August for free dining but we are back to school that week. We are also south of Boston. Have a great trip!

I would always do ADR. It's better to have them and not take a chance and not get in.

I read that you can only do reservations within 30 days...maybe that's why some were able to secure ADRs and others weren't?

nah, i called at the 180+10 mark and was told PH wasnt doing ressies for that week. they arent disney owned, so they arent obligated to participate.

That's the point I was making, if they won't do an ADR 180 (or 190) days out -- try calling 30 days out. :goodvibes

I would need to make an ADR at the end of July for my August visit, so I'll give it a shot. Either they'll do it or they won't -- then maybe I'll eat there, or I won't! ;)

ah, i read that wrong, i thought it said you cant make them within 30 days. gotchya!! maybe i will try calling back.

They are doing ADRs during Free Dining, because I have one for the first week in September that I made about 3 weeks ago.

I agree with a PP, I would make an ADR just in case. Better to have it and not need it than the other way around in my opinion.

I've got my fingers crossed for both of us. :goodvibes

I'm not sure I even want to go to PH because I've read so many negative comments about it...but nephews want to go there for their first night in town, so we'll give it a try. :woohoo:
