I have friend going to WDW in a few weeks. She has a 5:05 ressie @ Boma on her MK day. What time is recommended that she leave the park to get over to the Animal Kingdom lodge? Does she need to allow an hour? She hated to leave the park that early but would do whatever she needs to keep that early reservation.

BTW she could swap her reservation to 5:25 @ Whispering Canyon Cafe. I am wondering if that would be better b/c of closer location / shorter transportation time.

This is their 1st trip & are complete WDW newbies. Bless her heart :)

The rule of thumb is to allow about 45 minutes per leg of the trip using Disney transportation. So, yes, I would plan to be walking out of MK to the bus stops about an hour before her ADR. AKL is one of the furthest away resorts, so it'll take about 15-20 minutes of travel time alone. It's better to be early than to be late; besides, AKL has so much to see and do, you can easily fill any extra time. There are several animal viewing areas right off the lobby that she could visit if she arrived early.

The same rule of thumb applies for WL. She would take the boat from MK to WL. The boat ride is about 10-15 minutes long and boats run about every 20 minutes or so. So if she just misses the boat, it might be 20 minutes before the next one arrives.

As the pp said, if she is walking out of MK an hour before, she should be fine. The buses for AKL only service AKL and Kidani, so there's no other stops for any other resort(s) and even though AKL/Kidani is out away from everything, it doesn't take more than about 5 extra minutes compared to other resorts.

We've eaten at both Boma (one of our favorites) and WCC and although we did like WCC, I'd keep Boma (just my opinion).
