We're taking a day off during our trip to check out some resort! So far we only have the boardwalk on our list. What resorts would be cool to explore besides AKL (where we're staying haha).

Thanks everyone!

The Grand Floridian is a lovely place to stop if you need to take a break from MK for an hour or two. Other than that, the Polynesian is also very pretty. Have a good trip!

Do the monorail resorts and check out the Poly, GF, and CR. Enjoy strolling around the Poly grounds, check out Trader Sam's and walk over to the GF, where the beautiful lobby is worth relaxing in while listening to the band or pianist playing. Monorail to the CR and after checking out the games arcade take the boat launch to Fort Wilderness to go for a horse ride, perhaps see the Hoop Dee Doo Revue, make smores, etc. Walk/Boat to the WL. Check out the lobby (rock in the chairs by the fireplace) and Old Faithful. If you are there in the evening, watch Wishes and ELP from the resort of your choice. (Poly beach is great).Return to the MK and get a bus back to your resort.

Or you can do any variation of this loop, starting or stopping wherever. Spend longer at one and get a great meal, such as at Kona in the Poly. These resorts are all fun to visit!

Wilderness Lodge is nice to explore. Be sure to also go over to the Villa's there as well.

Art of Animation is really fun with lots of fun photo opps. I especially like the Cars section with the different characters out front of the buildings and the Route 66 theme and traffic cone cabansa at the quiet pool. The Nemo and Lion King sections are cool too. I have never managed to walk all the way over to the Little Mermaid section, so I can't say how that is.

ETA: Pop Century is also fun to explore because of all of the nostalgic pop culture references and huge Disney icons. Pop is usually my home base but I did more exploring it on my first trip when I was staying elsewhere.

Yeap......all of them. All the WDW resorts are wonderful and well themed in their own ways........We will all have our own favorites, but they are all fun to explore.

AKK

Hula lessons are offered in the Poly Lobby in the later part of the afternoon. They are free and very fun!
WL offers tours in the morning - I forget the time ( 9 or 10) but the WL thread has the details. There is also a Hidden Mickey challenge where you can walk around the resort looking for Hidden Mickeys.

We spent a whole morning taking pictures at AoA.
We love strolling the Boardwalk in the evening, going into the shops, enjoying the entertainment - getting boardwalk snacks
You can also go for a boat ride around the lake on the Friendship Boats - you won't have to get off it will stop at BW, Swan/Dolphin, DHS, YC/BC and then Epcot and back to BW. Nice way to catch a breeze.

Cruise the monorail resorts. When you get back to MK, you can take a boat to Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness Campground. Their area by the lake is gorgeous. Port Orleans Riverside has beautiful scenery as well.

Grand Floridian and Boardwalk. We are doing both one day. Breakfast at 1900 Park Fair and Dinner at Cape May.

I agree to check out the monorail resorts as well as the WL :).

My kids loved exploring the Art of Animation. Lots of fun for little kids, my son loved the Cars area and my daughter loved having her picture taken over in the Little Mermaid area. Very cute and the food court area is decent, too.
