Resorts that offer 3 beds

I've booked a junior suite at Coronado Springs with 2 queen beds and a sleeper sofa for a trip in November. But reading reviews online, I've heard more negatives than positives about Coronado. I've only ever stayed at POR prior to this and would've gladly gone back if POR offered a similar suite.

Does anyone know of another option at roughly the moderate resort price range that would provide 3 beds?

Or am I wrong to be worried that Coronado would be a downgrade from POR?

Thanks!

What is the age and height of the person who would be in the 3rd bed?

POR offers a pull down Murphy bed in the Alligator Bayou rooms. You could book a preferred room in order to ensure you get an AB room. But the Murphy bed is smaller than a standard twin and would likely be uncomfortable for an adult at best. Another option is the Fort Wilderness cabins.

Personally, I liked Coronado the second time I stayed there. The first time I stayed, there were dance teams staying there at the same time and it made for less than enjoyable waits for buses. The resort is large, and a lot of people don't like the atmosphere since it is a convention resort. But I found it to be very relaxing and beautiful. The drawback right now is the massive amount of construction which will be occurring.

AoA Suites, ASMu Suites, Ft Wilderness Cabins

CBR and POR have 2 beds and a small fold down bunk if that works (priority given to families of 5 other than AB Preferred)

Personally CSR is the deluxe of the moderates BUT they are preparing to start building a 15 story tower there so ...

Other than that you'll have to go deluxe.

I don't see CSR as a downgrade from POR. If anything I would say that the reverse might be true. However, as HopperFan said, there is going to be a lot of construction going on at CSR. For that reason, I wouldn't recommend staying there this time around.HopperFan and Maggie'sMom listed some great choices.

ASMu suites would likely be the most economical. If the third bed is for a small child, then POR preferred would be a great moderate.

If a queen and a set of bunk beds would work for your party, then The AKL or WL might work as options as well. They are a bit more than the price of moderates, but less costly than most of the other deluxe resorts. Standard view would be the least expensive. Are your dates flexible at all? You could keep an eye out for a good discount which sometimes brings AKL standard bunkbed rooms down in price that is reasonably close to POR preferred. They do only sleep 4 however.

Good luck!

Yes the AKL and WL (I've stayed in both with bunks) but it really all depends on your group makeup and why you need three beds.

Thank you for the amazing input! The extra person is an overgrown man (me) so the pull down beds in POR are out.

I'll check into AoA, ASMu and FW Cabins but it sounds like maybe I'm not giving Coronado Springs a fair shake.

Travel dates are set in stone, but I might have to take Babsy's advice and look at AKL. Standard view with a queen and a bunk is $50/night less than the CSR suite. Does anyone have experience with the AKL bunk beds? Sturdy enough for someone 6' 3" 250lbs or do I risk crushing my aunt in the middle of the night making future family reunions even more awkward?

The bunks at WL and AKL seemed to be slightly smaller than a regular twin, but I didn't get out a tape measure to verify, and it's been 8 years since I've last been in one of those rooms so my memory is a bit fuzzy. It seemed okay sized for a smaller adult, and likely sturdy enough to support your 250lbs so you wouldn't need to worry about awkward future family reunions, but at 6'3" I doubt you would get a good night sleep in one. Given the choice, I'd stick with CSR.

My kids slept in them. You might be too tall but feet could hang out small opening.

From MY FIRST VISIT

"Rooms with a queen and two bunk beds are also available. I measured the bunk bed mattresses as 72 inches long and 36 inches wide. Because of the frame, the top bunk sleeps a little shorter than that, though the lower frame has toesies gaps that let me stretch my 5’11” out fine. Both cushions are 8″ deep."

The FW cabins have a queen bed & bunks in the bedroom & a queen pullout sofa in living room. I'm 5'2 & had difficulty sleeping in the bottom bunk. It was too short. FYI.

I'm not sure about how comfortable a bunk bed would be for you. I have slept on the bottom bunk and been fine, but I am 5'3" in length and pretty round. Pooh sized, if you will. I may be wrong, but I think that the AKL bunkbeds may be a bit larger than the bunks in FW? Perhaps someone else will be able to say for sure.

Generally, I find that WDW expects the rooms to have 2 adults and 2-3 children and that is how they are configured. The Queen/bunkbeds room is a set up for a family of 4 with 2 kids and 2 adults. Some DVC options and suites do give extra space/beds, but tend to be pricey - especially if you want more than one or two real beds.

OKW may have a studio with two queen beds and a pull out sofa. Would renting points for one of those work for you?

What about two value rooms? You could request connecting rooms and might be lucky enough to get them. Then you would have two bathrooms, 4 real beds and 2 TV's. Plenty of space. It sounds like there may be 4 adults in your room? If so, then don't forget that most rooms will require a fee for each additional adult above the two allotted for the room.

Good luck!

OKW does not have a studio with two queen beds and a sleeper sofa. Just two queen beds (they sleep four). The one bedroom has a king bed, queen sleeper sofa and twin sized sleeper chair.

Have you checked to see if there are any CR, garden wing (standard or garden) rooms available for your dates? They would give you two queens and a daybed and may actually be around the same price as the CSR jr. suite.
The daybeds are basically a loveseat or pull down bunk. They'd work for a child or someone really petite but I don't think they'd work for an adult.

We also needed 3 beds (because my fiance and I won't be married at the time of the trip). We've ended up at All Star Music Family Suites (in part because it's a short trip), but our first choice was the CSR jr. suite (it was sold out at the time).

Other options we considered included:
AoA suite
FW cabin (decided against because of only one bathroom)
1 bedroom villas at AKL-Kidani, Bay Lake Tower and Old Key West.

My 5'9" daughter sleeps comfortably on all the deluxe daybeds. They are basically the size of a twin bed. Bonus: the mattress is much more comfortable than any sleeper sofa.

You may be thinking more about the murphy beds which are considered bunk size (shorter and narrower than a twin). But the deluxe resorts also have a day bed which is a sofa where the back flips down to an almost twin sized bed. Maybe an inch or two shorter, but bigger than the murphy beds.

Okay, the last time we stayed at Contemporary it was definitely too small for me (and I'm a 5'7" size 0) and was glad to have a real bed, but that was about 5 years ago so maybe the updated ones are bigger. I also don't remember them providing actual bedding for it. Again parties vary, but I think outside of an immediate family (parents and kids), I wouldn't really count the day bed as a third bed. Plus then you lose the seating/sofa area. I personally would go for something with at least the appropriate number of fold outs but to each their own.

I'm 5'11" and slept on the day bed at the GF.

Just for reference for the WL bunk beds, the last time we were there my son was probably 5'10"-5'11" and around 200 lbs. That trip was our last in the bunk beds; doable but really scrunched. When he'd sit up, his head hit the ceiling in the top bunk and if he was in the bottom bunk, his head hit the bottom of the top bunk Lol.. He's 6'1" now and as much as we love WL and also need "three beds", we're done there.
