I just have to start planning my next trip ! I got the fever now !

What would be ONE step up from an all star resort at WDW?

anyone ........

Thanks
PG

We "stepped up" and were disappointed!! So last year we went to POP and it was great. We love the themes and it seemed less fun at Wilderness Lodge. Now before I get blasted.......I know people love it. The rooms were much nicer, but the inside of the lodge didn't seem as child friendly or fun, especially when we fiqured how much more it cost. We decided once DD was older we would want to go back. Maybe you could try splitting your stay.

We have stayes at ASMO and also at POFQ and CS. I thought CS and POFQ had very pretty grounds and decor. The rooms were about the same size as the values but nicer decor. The pools at the moderates all haveslides which is a plus. All 3 resorts were great and I would say all were reasonably priced (with codes) whatever you choose onsite- you will very likely be happy. When we go back we are staying at ASMO as the little ones really love it.

Here is a link to disney's site- click on resorts- choose moderates and you can see all of your options in detail

DISNEY RESORTS

Stay at CBR. You will not be dissapointed. ESpically if you stay in Jamaica and you open your door and there is the beach and hammocks.

hmmm CBR I dont think will work. Going with DD and she loved the kid themes... so do I. But thanks ! POP so far seems to be IT.

I think its more of a personal preference... We stayed at ASMo with the kids in 2000 and when I went last year we stayed at Caribbean Beach Resort and personally I like the Value Resort better.. I have our next trip booked for Pop Century... Cant wait

Ahhhh Sorry I missed that. If I were you I would stay at the All Star movies. They have the Mighty Duck pool. Can't wait to get a picture of that. But your staying at POP, so you can walk right over. Have a great time.

crow11ad,

Funny I stayed at ALMO and didn't see the DUCK pool LOL !!! We were right at the Fantasia pool, but we never walked around the hotel ? Our feet were too sore from walking all day LOL !

So is POP right near ALMO ????

Funny, how much we miss huh ..

Pop Century is not within walking distance to anything..and certainly not All Star Movies. But you can drive over and check out the All Stars.

Oh I knew that it was in the same area. This trip we plan on seeing the majority of the hotels.

I helped some friends plan a trip to WDW last month. These friends have always stayed at the All Stars for the price and because they "weren't in their room much any way". I found them a discount that was available on the moderates so they could stay there for only $5/night more than the AS so they gave it a shot. When they got back, they LOVED PO and said they'd never go back to the All Stars after stepping up and experiencing the differences. They loved the pool, on site sit down restaurant, and the feeling of being less crowded (their words, not mine).

So, beware if you step up (which I highly recommend by the way) because you may never want to go back.
;)

The theming is more subtle at the moderates and deluxes.

PO has a wonderful dragon slide for the main pool.
CBR has a great "Carribean Ft. Theme" for its main pool area.

The deluxes tend to be less "kid themed" - but the BW has the clown slide and a subtle circus theme. Y&BC has Storm Along Bay. Poly's is shaped like a volcano.

The interior of the rooms tend to be more subtly adult in decor. You still have some of the specific Disney theming (Alice on the bedspread at GF). The rooms at the moderates are bigger, and at the Deluxes are bigger yet (AKL and VWL have rooms only slightly bigger than moderates).

Our kids enjoyed the WL when they were little. They though the "spring" in the lobby and the gyser were very cool - as were the huge totem poles. But it isn't a huge Woody and Buzz.

And, of course, the savannah rooms at AKL have the animals.

Deluxes have poor fast food options. Moderates still have a food court. Deluxes have really good park access to at least one park (except AKL - which is bus to everywhere).

And of course, values are not too expensive, moderates a little more expensive, and deluxes tend to siphon the money out of your wallet faster than Paris Hilton with your charge card.

OK .. so seeing as though it is only me and DD, I think value is the way to go... we really enjoyed the ALMo, we do not spend much time at the hotel ... we usually grab a sundae at night and then get ready for the next day and go to sleep... so room and food is not on out priority list ... we just like being out and about... HAVING FUN !

I want Disney theme all around us .... :Pinkbounc

Thanks

I would say you made the right choice. We opted to go to a mod, then a deluxe due to size and the amt of baby paraphenalia we have. Also DS can get really over stimulated and the parks will be enough to overwhelm him alone. That is not to say that we won't do a value resort sometime, I just think this is a better choice for our family now.

We have stayed in ASMu, POFQ, and POP, in that order. POP was by far our favorite. It was VERY Disney!!!!!!!!!!:earseek:

We love POR. That said we stay there in the warmer months because of the quiet pools. We thought it would be a treat for the grands, with the pool slide. They didn't think it was very Disney, so this next Feb trip, is over to Pop. We have no trouble going "backwards". If Mousesavers has a code that makes the mod's only $5 more than a value, the savings isn't as good as you think...since you can usually use that same code to get the value for less (I assume these people didn't check to see what the value was with the same code). Often, with the AP and postcard codes, the values are $49 and mod's $74 - 79 during off times. With the everyday codes, the values are $55-59 and the mods $79-84.
It's just an individual choice. In three weeks, we'll be staying at Pop, and it's my sister's first trip ever, so we think she'll love Pop, more than she would POR or another mod, since she is looking forward to blantant Disney LOL. With the $180 savings each room, we can do a lot of eating.

Actually they did but the discount wasn't available in the All Stars because it was already sold out (only so many rooms available at discounted rate).

Since there are so many of you w/experience at both AS and mods, I'd like to jump in with a question for you. We went a few years ago and stayed at CS. We did breakfast in the room (yogurt, pop tarts, cereal bars, fruit). We are planning a major extended family trip for 2005. How fast, convenient were the food courts/restaurants at the AS and mods? We have people traveling who will want more substantial breakfasts then my immeditate family usually does. If we did a mod in the past, we will regret going to an AS? I was thinking of Pop since it is so new. I really want to stay on-site as we loved the convenience and atmosphere w/ the little kids. DH said he's willing to pay more (read:work the overtime)to stay on-site:D

Thanks for any input. I am the official planner for my family and want to have as much info as possible when I make my "presentations" and my case for on-site.

Thanks again!

I find the food courts in the mods and the values to be just about the same. If you try to get breakfast at the same time as everyone else is (because you all want to get to the parks early), it's very crowded at either of the resort types. We bring bread or bagel bread and make toast in the food court, along with hot cereal and use our mugs, to avaoid lines. If we do order the breakfasts, we find a line during the busier seasons, and less during the slow seasons..but no different between POR and POP.
