I was reading on the UK forum and a poster talked about he did online check in for WL, there for it only took him 5 minutes when he arrived to get into his room.

As he is there now, I did not want to ask him about it while he is on vacation.
But that would help us greatly if we could do that to, after such a long trip there.

We are staying at SSR. Do you know if the do online check-in?

Many Thanks,
Beth

Online check-in can be done at any resort.

All Disney resorts use online check-in. By doing this, you use a special queue line at check-in where they will have your folder ready with all of your hotel reservation information. Your room will be preassigned, therefore you will have immediate access to it, provided it is ready.

Just wanted to add, online check-in is NOT a guarantee that your room will be ready when you are arrive. People may assume that if they got into their room early, it must be because they did online check-in, but that's more or less coincidental.

The primary benefit/purpose is to shorten the time you spend at the check-in desk. You can enter a credit card if you choose, and your key and packet will be prepared ahead of your arrival, so you don't have to hang out at the desk while they do all that. You'll stand in a separate line for check-in, which may be shorter than the regular check-in line.

Whether or not your room is ready depends on how early the previous occupant got out of there, how many rooms need to be prepared for new guests that day, and any one of a number of other factors. I don't know if they prioritize online check-in rooms for cleaning, but even if they do, if housekeeping is swamped or is running behind for some reason, you're still going to have to wait.

Thanks Lynn,

Our flight lands after 5pm, so after customs and passport control, then the drive there, we will arrive near 7pm. With the 5 hour difference it will be after midnight to us, we just want a bed!

The good news is the next morning we are up around 5am and are almost always first in line at the turnstiles for the parks.

Beth

Oh, by 7 PM, I don't think you'll have any trouble getting into a room right away. :thumbsup2
