What do everybody think about the resorts off site? They have 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms with living room and kitchen.

Marriott's Grande Vista Resort
Celebrity Resorts Lake Buena Vista
Westgate Lakes Resort
Westgate Vacation Villas
Blue Tree Resort at Lake Buena Vista
Star Island Resort and Club
The Wyndham Palms Resort & Country Club

Is $600 (7 nights, 8 days) a week a pretty good deal?

We stayed at the Marriott's Grand Vista last Jan. It is very nice and I think 600 a week is a good deal. It was our 1st stay offsite and we just thought it was not worth the hassle of renting a car and driving. We much prefer staying at a Disney resort and will be returning to the Contemporary Tower in September.

If you are looking for specific reviews, I can't help. But if you are asking about the concept of staying in one of these places, I can't recommend it highly enough. The ones you list and others are great options. You get tons of space compared to the tiny rooms onsite. You save money. You have a kitchen, multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, multiple tv's, washer and dryer maybe and lots of other amenities.

Is $600/wk a good deal? Probably depends on which resort and when you are going. You can get some places for a lot less if you book through skyauction.com. Last year, we spent a week at Orbit One Vacation Villas in a beautiful 2-bed, 2-bath unit for $261. It was 3 miles door to door from Disney, actually closer than some of the onsite hotels. It is far more convenient, in our opinion, to stay offsite and drive than to stay onsite and be at the mercy of Disney transportation.

which size unit are you talking about?

if you can get a 3-bedroom Marriott for $600 - I would definitely go for it.

for the Celebrity or the Westgate it isn't worth it. the Celebrity needs alot of work. Westgate sale people will ruin anyone vacation.

I have heard nice things about Wyndham.

a 2-bedroom Marriott probably still worth it.

a 1-bedroom Marriott - I think you can do better. A studio - you can definitely do better.

remember with this Marriott you want a rehab or new room only!!!!

We paid $219/night in April for a 2BR at the Grande Vista and loved it for the most part. We had a nice room in the Magellan bldg that was renovated and was close to the main pool with golf course views. I would say $600/wk is a steal, it is a very nice resort.

A few minor complaints -- the pool water was kind of cool and I didn't like the drive to WDW parks. My DH loved it though, and actually loved that we weren't so close to WDW so it felt like a retreat.
