My question is do the resorts put a hold on my credit card for incidentals? Also do they put a hold on them for Magic Band Charges?

We were at Disney in January, me, my wife, 4 Year Old Son, and 2 Year Old Son. My wife got the trip through her job so everything was taken care of for us except food and souvenirs. We Would Charge to our Magic bands and I would go to the front desk every night and pay it off. But, as I stated everything was taken care of, my wife’s job had there card on file.

So when we check in in December (Port Orleans French Quarter) I assume they will require my debit card, I am just curious to the hold if any they will put on. I have heard they don’t put holds on cards, and one cast member told me they do, one cast member says they don’t.

They definitely do not put a hold on. WDW is one of the only places that don't require a credit card on file to check in. Granted, you wouldn't be able to charge back to your room without a credit card on file. But one is not required to check in.

Ok perfect that’s what I was looking for, so I can just give them my card for magic band charges and pay it off nightly as I did before.

You don't really have to go to the Front desk every night unless you are making large daily charges on your MBs. The moderates have a $1500 charge level before they charge your "card on file" to reset the balance to zero.

You don't need to pay it off nightly; they will charge your card automatically at checkout or when it hits a certain amount.

Depending on the daily charge limit on your debit card and how much you’re charging, you might have to go and have them manually charge it.

If you’re not charging much and/or your debit has a high limit, maybe you won’t.

If by chance you’re also going to Universal on this trip, if you stay onsite and want to charge to the room they DO put a daily hold on your card. I have heard from trusted people, however, that the amount of the hold is negotiable with the front desk.

This answer is more general than Disney specific but hotels *will* put a hold on your DEBIT card that will easily stay for at least a full week.

Yes I’m used to this, before kids I remember Caesars Palace Wanted to put a hold of 500 on my debit card. (Good thing they did after striking out on cards)
