Resorts booked in early December?

I was just over at the official Disney site checking some dates and availability for some resorts. I checked out both the Wilderness Lodge and the Contemporary and they are both booked for my dates. We will be traveling December 5-12. I am kind of getting nervous that the place will be packed. I guess if there are rooms at the other 18 resorts I shouldn't panic, but I would think they would have had SOMETHING at either one of these. Any thoughts?:)

These are both very popular resorts, especially WL during the Christmas season. While it may be more crowded than usual this December due to the increase in people traveling, specifically to WDW, it still should be one of the lighter times of year, crowdwise.

I had tried to book WL the day after the AP rates were released and the CM told me they were no rooms available... :( I kept trying during September, but nothing opened up. So I figured I'd keep my reservation with AKL.

If you have your heart set on WL ... keeping calling back :) Something could open up. I've heard that the best time to check for openings is first thing in the morning :) Good luck!

bunnyfoo, I do have 2 rooms booked at the WL for my party. I managed to get my AP rates later in the month of September. I checked out some of the other resorts and they had almost every type of room available. Maybe everyone just wanted the WL and CR. Thanks for your replies!!:)

That's awesome Bryan! I know I wanted to stay at WL specifically because of the Christmas decorations! We're definitely going to visit though and eat at Whispering Canyon *lol* :)

Thanks bunnyfoo!! I don't know how I managed to get 2 rooms. I booked one for myself, mom, and friend. Then 2 weeks later I booked the other room for my room mate and friend. I hope they haven't "gasp" overbooked the lodge!!:) Imagine if we have to get upgraded!!hehe:)

Many people will be attending MVMCP, so the MK resorts might have more bookings.

Of course, so many people might have heard about how uncrowded the parks usually are that week, and planned their trips accordingly, that they might now be overcrowded. ;)

Hi -

Here is a thought for overbooked reservations......

I tried the Wilderness Lodge for early December one weekend......sold out.....three days later I was able to grab a Woods View room.

This far out the "group hold" reservations are still being booked. Travel Agents and other groups can hold groups of rooms pending bookings. As time draws closer to your travel date, these open - unreserved blocks of rooms will return to inventory to sell.

When I stayed at the Wilderness Lodge for my birthday in September I booked a Courtyard View Room....all that was available 4 months ahead. Checking the reservation system a week prior....everything was available.

The time immediately after Thansgiving and just before Peak season kicks in for the holidays is traditionally a very slow time for Disney.

Keep trying - you will probably find something before too much longer.

Good luck!

I think alot of people booked the winter dreamaker package they offered.

Another good time to check is from now and until 45 days out from your arrival date. This is the deadline for balances on packages, such as the Dream Maker. For example, we are arriving at WL on 12-6 and had until 10-22 to pay the balance (we have already paid it ahead of time). However, there may be some people that sent their deposits in 3 months ago, and will now find that for whatever reason it will not be in the budget and have to cancel or switch to an AS resort. Don't give up!!

We have a big crew going down starting December 6th at the Poly. The 6th itself was a big problem to get but starting on the 7th all the remaining dates for our vacation opened up. I'm not sure what is happening the night of Saturday the 6th but it definitely seems to be gumming up the works. Good luck and hope you get what you want!
