I can't seem to find out any "official" information about the resort pools. I know that when we swim we don't have to wear a mask, but is there any official word from Disney about when we are sunbathing and lounging? I certainly don't want to get a "mask tan". :crazy2: I would assume that chairs, etc., will be spaced apart for now, but I can't seem to find out anything from Disney on this.

I think this is the only official information released about pools. It doesn't clearly specify much of anything about distancing, other than limited capacity:
Pools
  • Feature pools may operate with reduced hours; leisure pools will be open 24 hours a day
    • Pools will operate with reduced capacity to allow for physical distancing
    • Select poolside activities may be available at select Resort hotels
    • Stormalong Bay at Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts will not be available during the initial reopening period; Guests of this Disney Resort hotel may enjoy the leisure pool at Disney's Beach Club Villas or the Luna Park Pool and leisure pool at Disney’s BoardWalk Villas

And this is the information about masks. It clearly indicates "except when dining or swimming" and "not a substitute for physical distancing." I would take that to mean masks are required on the pool deck, then be pleasantly surprised if not required. Rather than expecting no mask required and be turned away.
Face Coverings
All Guests ages 2 and up—along with Cast Members—are required to wear face coverings when visiting Walt Disney World Resort. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them at all times, except when dining or swimming.
All face coverings should:
  • Fully cover an individual’s nose and mouth and allow the Guest to remain hands-free
    • Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
    • Be secured with ties or ear loops
    • Be made of breathable material, either disposable or reusable
Costume masks are not considered appropriate and are prohibited from being worn, in alignment with our existing rules.
The use of face coverings is not a substitute for physical distancing.

Thanks.

I chatted with Disney today and they informed me that they did not have the complete information available yet on pools and sunbathing, etc. We shall see!

I think the one thing is the lifeguards have to get new training so they may be waiting for Ellis and associates who Certifies the lifeguards for both the pools and waterparks to train them properly with certain new protocols

I've heard they are not requiring masks at the pool at Vero Beach Resort. So maybe that will transfer to WDW as well.

I just heard the same thing for Hilton Head. That they are spacing lounge chairs in groups of two (to start) spaced approx. 6 feet apart, with no mask required in the swimming area.

I think I"ll stay at the pool all day...

:sunny:
