Resorts and Daybeds

Our next trip to the World won't be 'till next January (a whole year!) but will include our twelve year old niece and nephew (and possibly our eight year old niece as well).

Ideally we'd like to be on the monorail, and I'm just wondering which of these resorts have daybeds in the rooms - and if it's something you have to request or if it's all the rooms. And if an average sized twelve year old could sleep comfortably on one.

We're also considering AKL or getting a suite or two connected rooms in a moderate.

I know it's a long time away but I am bored and what's a better cure for boredom than planning the next Disney trip. :cloud9:

Any advice or tips on lodging with two to three older kids is much appreciated. (there's just two adults btw)

I can personally speak in regards to the daybeds at the Polynesian and at the Grand Floridian, and both of these resorts have daybeds that a 12-year old would comfortably sleep in. In fact, my sons are 19 and 16 and both of them would have no trouble sleeping in the daybed.

Here's a picture of what the daybed in the Polynesian looks like when it's folded down to be used as a bed:

Contemporary had a daybed. It was qutie comfy. DS10 slept on it one night. And DS5 kicked me out of bed one night so I slept in it and it was great.

most of the rooms in the monorail resorts do have the day beds in them. you don't have to request them. However, at the AKL only the deluxe rooms have them. The other rooms only have 2 queen beds, no day bed. The beds are big enough for most kids to sleep on them, they are just like a twin bed when they are open.

My oldest dd slept on the daybed at the CR last Dec. She was 14 at the time. She said it was very comfortable.

DS-15 and 5' 7" slept on the daybed at the Poly, but said he needed to curl up a bit to fit. DD-11 and on the short side fit perfectly fine. I think DS was just trying to get the queen bed!
