We are planning a trip and are wondering what our options are for 5 people. Do we need to get two rooms, or what resorts allow 5 people? I am looking for a cost effective way to go also. Thank you for you help in advance.:confused3

It depends on the ages of your party. If you have one under 3, you can stay anywhere. If you are all over 3 then your choices are a little more limited. You can stay at POR, ASMu in a family suite, CR, and several other of the resorts that have suites. In most cases, it couldn't be a standard room. I believe that CSR has some suites also. I'm sure that they would allow more than 4. Good Luck Planning and :welcome: !

Most of the deluxes have rooms which sleep 5. These include Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Yacht & Beach Club, and Contemporary.

Wilderness Lodge's standard rooms sleep 4, as do Animal Kingdom Lodge standard rooms.

One moderate--Port Orleans Riverside--has some rooms with a trundle suitable for a child, so those sleep five as long as you don't have five adults.

The family suites at All-Star Music sleep six, and include a separate bedroom and living room.

Cabins at Fort Wilderness also sleep six.

Thank you for your input. It would be 3 adults and two kids who will be turning 7 and 5 on our trip. It is my husband and I and Grandma. Grandpa was going to come, but decided it would be too much for him.

As the other poster have said - except I'll add that if you want 'discount' - you should add the following considerations and price the room options based on season:

At the ASMu suites - there is one queen bed and sleeper sofas for everyone else. There is a microwave - so maybe you could save money on food. You may lose out on time though if you fold up the sleeper sofa every day while you get ready.

The Cabins also have some cooking ability. I think they also have bunk beds.

You may be able to rent points at a DVC resort. You might be able to find a great deal there, and you'll get a full kitchen.

if you get two rooms at a value resort, you'll get twice the space and TWO bathrooms. This will make it esier to get ready, but may be difficult if you have all kids in your party.

At POR, the Alligator Bayou buildings with the trundle bed don't have elevators, so maybe a first floor room would be a good choice. In that area of POR, you'll find other folks who have five people per room, too.

My family slept in a room at POR-Bayou, comfortably. There were 5 of us. My mom and dad slept in one bed, my brother (12) and I (14) slept in the other bed, comfortably. My sister (9) slept on the trundle. It was a pretty good fit. I didn't mind it.

Family Suite info;

DH and I stayed in a Family Suite at All Star Music ( a value resort) in Sept. of 2006.

We really enjoyed the Queen size bed, the kitchenette with the microwave, having a sofa and cushioned chair to sit on and relax after a day at the parks before retiring for the evening.

I thought the pullouts very comfortable.

They are designed so the back cushion and seat cushion of the pullout support the pullout. There is no metal bar to hurt the sleepers back.

They have a stap and with a gental one handed pull they open right up. They also fold very easily.

Note:

Mousekeeping will make up the each day and close them for you.
If you decide to close them in the morning to make more room--mousekeeping will pull them back out to make them up and then close them back up.up.

Here is the layout of the Family Suites:

They:

-Sleep up to 6 (plus one child under age 3 in a Pak-n-Play crib)
-Studio amenities and separate sleeping areas giving more privacy than a standard room.
-Queen bed, full-size pullout sofa, convertible ottoman & chair sleepers (4 separate sleepers)
-Private master bedroom and family room have 27” flat CRT TV and high speed Internet access.
-Kitchenette with microwave, small refrigerator (4.3 cu. ft) and coffee pot
-Two-full bathrooms

:welcome:

For a family of 5, cheapest accommodations, going up in cost...

2 Rooms at a Value Resort - 4 double beds, 2 baths, 2 TV's

All-Star Movie Suite - Bedroom - 1 Queen bed, Living Area - pull-out sofa and chairs, small fridge and microwave, 2 baths, 2 TV's

Fort Wilderness Cabins - Bedroom - 1 double bed & bunk beds, Living Area - pull-down murphy bed, full kichen, 1 bath, 2 TV's

If you have AAA, you can receive a discount.

The other options start to get costly.

At all resorts except for Ft Wilderness Cabins, All Stars Family Suites, you will pay an extra adult fee for the third adult.
