For the Last three visits to Disney World, we have stayed at Carribean Beach Resort, POP Century, and Disney Sports Resort. For our next visit we are debating renting a house with friends. Anyone have any reccomendations?

We have stayed onsite and rented houses twice. We rented a house in Windsor Hills Christmas 2007 and then we rented one with friends in Sept 2008. The house in 2008 was located in Rolling Hills, very close to WDW. It was a 7 bedroom which was great for both our families as we have 4 kids ourselves.
The house in Rolling Hills was through http://www.sterlingvacationhomes.com/Default.aspx
They are located in Aurora, On and they own 7 houses now. We rented Captain Nemo's Villa. It had a separate Nemo shaped kiddie pool that the kids loved!!
We love staying on site, but love the space of a house as well.

We've rented homes 7 times. Everything from 2 bedroom to 7 bedroom. We rent from VRBO.com. It's great because you negotiate with home owners directly. We have never had a bad experience.

It's a different vacation than staying on property. More time to relax. We have also stayed on property and love that but when kids were you g, we loved putting them to bed and then sitting outside in our lanai, going swimming at night and enjoying couple time not cooped up in a hotel room. Plus it was great to have cheaper meals in the home and make snacks for the parks.

Be prepared to rent a car and pay for parking at every park but you'll save on the house. Pick a community that states 5 min fro. Disney. Some communities that say 10 minutes are further along the highway which can get very backed up in the mornings. We like any of the communities off Old Lake Wilson road - Windsor Hills, Indian Ridge, Emerald Isle, Rolling Hills.

You should give the rental homes a try for sure!

We have done both and loved both but I wouldn't rent with friends. As much as I like my friends, I like to keep the time out of the parks for family time but that just me. Have you thought of Bonnet Creek as a resort. We went there last week and have to say I was impress plus they have free shuttles to Disney and the schedules are not that bad. I used them every day and saved on parking. we were there for rope drop and stayed to close the park and even made it back to the resort every day for nap time in the afternoon. I bought my week on ebay and for a 2 bedroom for 7 nights, I paid a little less then $500.

You could park at DTD for no cost & take a bus to the closest hotel & then go to the parks from there by their mode of transportation. My Inlaws own timeshare just outside Disney & that's what we plan to do the next time we go down.
