Resort Touring

I was wondering if you are allowed to visit any of the WDW resorts to see what they look like? I'm really interested in seeing what the grounds are like and the food areas. I thought that would be fun to do on one of the days we are there. I've stayed at the POR when it used to be Dixie Landings.
My DD and I are going in August. I wanted to stay at the CR with her but she decided she likes the looks of the CSR better. That's fine with me - more spending money.

Yes, you are. Last trip I took the bus from AK to CBR to check it out -- and then over to POR. We also toured Ft Wilderness, the Poly and the GF. We stayed on site six nights and only used 3 park hopper days and spent the rest of the time 'touring' and swimming.

Thank you for your quick reply. That's great news. These boards are so helpful.
Do we have to do anything special or get permission before we tour the resorts? Or can we just take the disney bus to whichever one we choose and look around?
I think it would be nice to see the AKL and WL and maybe the Beach Club.
We've stayed at POR before but haven't seen any of the other resorts. They all look so nice - I wish I could stay at each. Boy would that be a vacation!

You dont have to ask. Just board the bus or boat and go. You could ask and they might even let you check out a room or even one of the suites. It never hurts to ask. Have fun

No special permission needed.

You can eat at any of the resort restaurants. Lots of people speak very highly of the restaurtants at the resorts. So make plans to have dinner at one of them.

The Epcot resorts are pretty much all within walking distance of the International Gateway entrance to Epcot. You can also take the boat lauch from the International Gateway to any of the Epcot resorts, same is true for the MGM boat launch. You can reach the MK resorts on the monorail. Traveling from resort area to resort area takes a bus transfer either at a theme park of the TTC. If you have specific transporation questions about getting from one resort to another, check out the transportation board.

We'll be in the World after Thanksgiving so we're planning on seeing all the resorts decked out for the Holidays. To make better time, we plan on taking our car from resort to resort.
