I'm a little confused, so please help me out. If I want to go to the Poly from POR, I should use the monorail via the MK, but do I need to have park admission first to use the monorail? May not be in the MK the day we go to Ohana. TIA!

No, you don't actually have to go into the park to get the monorail. You also don't *have to get to the Poly by monorail either. If you're going there directly from POR you can just catch the first bus that comes along then catch the Poly bus from whichever park you've gone to.

No, you do not need park admission. The monorail is located outside of the actual park. You should be fine doing it that way!

No you don't need admission to MK to use the monarail the bus stops and the monarail are located before you have to pass through the turn. of the MK and at EPCOT as well.

Go to DTD take bus to POLY.

Thank you, Minerva. In your opinion, is it easier to take the bus going to the Poly or hop on the monorail? Think it would be kind of cool to experience the monorail on our first trip, but I'm for whatever is going to get us there the quickest.

Thanks, everyone, for your advice! There are so many helpful people on this board!

I agree the monorail is much more fun than a bus. Also just want to make sure you know there is no bus from the MK to the Polynesian.

I would take the bus to the MK and hop the resort monorail to the Polynesian. You will get off on the second floor and Ohana is right there.

If you do take the "first bus that comes along" and it happens to be the Epcot bus, you would need to take the monorail to the TTC and then transfer to the resort monorail to get to the Poly. There is no bus from Epcot to any of the MK monorail resorts.

Huh? I've never had a problem getting from EPCOT to the Poly by bus. I usually would take the monorail to the TTC, then walk back to the room. But I do remember plenty of buses which took us straight from EPCOT to the Poly, and vice versa, when we didn't feel like waiting for the monorail. I can't imagine there would not be buses from EPCOT to GF and CR as well.

Are you sure about the Polynesian? Was this very recent or a long time ago?

But I am sure there isn't a bus between the CR and Epcot.

Ed, I tried to send you a pm but I think it was timed out....life interferred while I was typing.

Anyway, about 2.5 yos ago I asked guest services at Epcot about a bus from there to the GF where we were staying. The CM checked her guide and told me there was one. We ended up not taking it anyway but I've always wondered whether it still exists or even at that point if the guide was out of date.

I actually think it would be very convenient for CR guests in particular, GF guests to a lesser extent and about a wash for Polynesian guests. Of course, a bus is never as fun as the monorail in my book.

Take the first park or non-resort bus to that place and get on the bus to your destination.

This was in 2001. Also, keep in mind that Poly buses often share with GF. That is, if you want to go to EPCOT from the Poly, you hop on the bus labeled EPCOT, but you'll have to stop at GF first. It might not, depending on the crowds filling the bus at Poly, but usually it does. It may be that CR, GF and Poly share one bus stop at the parks, since they are so close together and usually have fewer guests staying at each than some of the other resorts. We almost never had a bus that took us back to our resort directly. It seems we usually shared buses with GF en route to and from the parks.

At any rate, I never had a problem finding a bus for Poly from any park. If you're staying at GF, and you're at a park and see a Poly bus, but never a GF bus, hop on the Poly bus. The driver can drop you off at GF in about 30 seconds after he drops off the Poly guests. These resorts are virtually next door to each other.

CR I don't know so much about, since it's on the opposite side of the lake.

That will take way too long. Buses to DTD aren't are frequent as MK buses and you will be back tracking. Plus the DTD Poly bus often makes stops at the Contemporary and Grand Floridian. Your best bet is to take a bus to the MK and then a monorail transfer to the Polynesian.
