Resort to Cruise?

Hello All,

I'm currently looking into booking my first Disney cruise along with my second trip to Disney World. My question is, I saw that you can add transportation from the airport to the port, however, we are hoping to spend a couple days at a resort first, Is there transportation from the resort to the port?

There is! I believe it is 30 something per person. Check over in the Disney Cruise Line forum. There is a ton of info if you do a search. Alot of people find it easier to rent a car on way too.

Been quite a few years for us, our first Disney cruise and not wanting to bother with a rental, back then only certain resorts had bus transportation to the port, we stayed one night at CBR, left our luggage for pick up and waited in the am the next day to board the bus.....best thing we ever did, not sure of the cost (wife's area) and coming back was just as easy, no fussing with luggage at all....we then extended our stay at the CR for 3 nights after the cruise and then headed for home.....quite simple and easy....

Yes, there is--it's the same price as traveling from the airport to the port: $35/pp each way.

However, realize that you may get to the port later than you would like. We've use DCL ground transfers on two cruises now, and after the second time vowed to use our own transportation to the port in the future.

On this second trip, we were ready to leave our resort (BCV) at 11:30 a.m., as directed. However, the bus did not show up until 12:15 p.m., and then we went to another resort (BW?) and waited a long time for the rest of the passengers to show up and board the bus. The bus did not get on the road until well after 1 p.m., and got us to the port terminal at about 2:30 p.m. We were among the last 10% of the passengers to board the ship. At that point, it was a mad rush to get to lunch (because we hadn't eaten since breakfast, and had the late dining), eat in about 10 minutes, and rush to make the lifeboat drill. The whole cruise started off poorly and rushed.

We would not use DCL ground transfers to the port again.

Good to hear a first hand account. This is why we don't use Disney's transportation to the Port (well one of the reasons). The other is $70 pp roundtrip times 6 in our group = $420. We rent a car and leave it at the parking lot for much less. Since we have 2 carseats, dropping the rental off and picking up a new one is not an option. We are cruising in 2 months and we have a Ford Explorer for $200, plus $75 for parking (if we use Disney's parking). Add some gas and a few tolls and its still cheaper. Plus we signed up for the 11:00AM checkin at the port. (This part was new to me, but still managed the first checkin time....glad I saw that here on the boards). If it was only 2 of us, I might consider Disney's shuttle, but getting there late might bug me a little. We always do Disney resorts before and after a cruise. This upcoming trip we are 3 nights before the cruise and 16 nights after the cruise (just us, the family is going home after 5 days).
