Resort Swap Set-Up: Looking for Input

The resort swap sign-ups are just around the corner and I would like a little input on how people would like to do the groups.

I was originally just going to do it the way it was done last time with up to 10 people per group each doing 1 element.

I really like having things that match and sometimes having 1 element per person even with the same theme doesn't give me a group of things that can be used together- so I was thinking of 2 ways to do this.

1. I could set a group of colors for each resort (i don't want to specify Brazill colors because sometimes specific ones are hard to obtain) For example with Wilderness Lodge use dark green and browns because this fits the resort color scheme.

2. I could have groups where people do page kits- I was thinking about a group for each class of resorts and then you would have a page kit for each resort but I don't know that would work well for people who don't go very often.

If people aren't worried about matching elements that the whole point is moot anyway. I would just like some other input on this.

Another vote for option one. And like NEE, I like to work with 2 or 3 colors.

I have spent some time looking at the colors - focusing on the lobbies and the guest rooms photos. Here are my thoughts on colors- I would love to have other opinions as I haven't stayed in all the hotels and I never found myself that good at color matching anyway.

All of the Value Resorts: Bright Yellow, Green, Blue, and Red

Carribean Beach: Light Green, Peach, Golden Yellow, Medium Blue

Corando Springs; Peach, Medium Blue, Tan, Medium Green

Port Orleans French Quarter: Dark Green, Black, Yellow, Purple

Port Orleans Riverside: Maroon, Light Yellow, Peach, Light Green

Animal Kingdom Lodge: Browns, Dark Greens 9Think trees), Red, Tan

Beach Club: Ocean Blue, Peach, Light and Medium Green

Contemporary: I am stumped here- the lobby areas have been purple, blue, and teal but they are being renovated- the new rooms are Maroon, Golden, and Champange

Swan/Dolphin: Peach, Teal Blue, Pink

Grand Floridian: Light Blue, Gold, Bright Yellow, Medium Pink

Polinesian: Jungle Green, Brown, Bright Blue, Red

Shades of Green: Mint and Dark Green, Yellow, Medium Pink

Wilderness Lodge; Dark Brown, Dark Green, Slate Blue

Yacht Club: Sea Blue, Cream, Dark Blue, Gold

Key West: Light Pink, Mint, Peach, Light Blue

Saratoga Springs: Medium Green, Yellow, Peach

Fort Wilderness: Tan, Brown, Green

Anyway- that is what I could get and I would love to hear others thoughts.

I have stayed at All Star Movies and All Star Sports -- the colors you listed seem right to me. Bright primary red, blue and yellow is mostly what I remember.

I agree with the Poly too.

We stayed at Pop Century and from what I remember, the color scheme is not the same as the All Star resorts --- I think my pages from that visit (2004) were 2 shades of teal (think little mermaid colors) and purple. This was for photos taken out front where they have the big numbers. I'm not certain that this was the theme throughout or just the colors near where I took my photos.

I haven't stayed anywhere else.

I like Option One also....

You put a lot of time in to that research. WOW

The main building for Pop is teal, but all the room buildings are done in bright primary colors - reds, yellows, oranges especially. I think bright primary colors would work well for it.

I feel like Port Orleans Riverside should have a blue in it - the main building is kind of a slate blue.

Keep giving suggestions- some of the resorts it has been awhile since I visited and I can only use the other pictures on here until I am back up at Disney. I will take a look at the Pop again then as I am staying there. I agree that Blue could be in the colors of Riverside but I thought other than the main building most of the Blue in the resort was pastels like the other colors. Of course we stayed in the mansions and the other section may have very different colors.

Please continue the suggestions as that is why I posted- so it could be sorted out before we sign up.

The only thing with Riverside is there's also the browns and reds of alligator bayou.

I'd LOVE to join if you do start it

Thank you for letting me know about the bayou colors- I will look at the resort again and try to come up with some common colors.

I will have sign-ups on February 2nd- all of our sign-ups are listed in the swap calendar at the top of the page- it gives you a heads up to know what is coming. We found it helpful to keep ourselves from being too overwhelmed and not being able to sign up for what we really wanted.

Welcome to the swap board- it is great to have you with us!!!

I love the color ideas! :goodvibes I would suggest pink for Caribbean beach.
I think I would sign up for one group at least. How are you going to do the groups?

I wish this swap was a little later in the year though. I just signed up for the Everyday Life Swap. It sounds so great! Michael's has their paper on sale this week. . .I better go shopping!

I am going to do a group for each resort and each person will choose one element to do for that resort. I will limit the number at each resort to 10- I can iopen another group if needed but that should be sufficient for most resorts.

Rebecca

Do we each pick a different element or can we pick what we want from list?

Will the All-Star resorts be lumped together or a separate group for each one?

I was thinking that each person would pick a different element from a list (so that we do not end up with 4 topper for a resort and nothing else). I won't specify what has to be in each group, I just won't put in more than 1 person with the same item unless it is something that can be used more like photo mats and boxes and such- although i would prefer that each person do a different item for a resort.

On a different note after staying at the POP this weekend I really don't know what colors to use. The decor on the outside around the resort is any and every bright color whereas the decor inside the rooms and in the food court area is muted colors. Ant suggestions?

Personally, I would go with bright colors for Pop, as the majority of pictures I've taken at that resort are of the icons, the words on the buildings, etc. I don't take nearly as many pictures inside.

I agree. I personally always scrap the room, but only in addition to a two page spread on the hotel. The bright colors scream Pop a lot more, adhem providing colors can scream that is...:confused3

Ok I am hoping to be in on this (my first swap in a year!) I'd be happy with either option as I have a lot of resort pics despite only staying on property once.

One thing to consider, even if you don't stay at a specific resort, you may still end up scrapping it. From my last trip when I was staying at the BCV I ended up with multiple pictures of the Yacht Club, Beach Club, Boardwalk, Grand Floridian, Contemporary, Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge, Swan, Dolphin, Saratoga Springs and Port Orleans! We did a lot of exploring, took a day to tour the monorail line, had lunch at Wilderness and, on another day, we had lunch at Port Orleans. So if you ended up with swap items from other hotels you could probably make use of them at some point.
