I need your help making a resort booking decision. We are going in April from 4/20-4/28 on a group youth performance trip. We're staying at CBR from Sunday- Saturday with the group and originally I had added nights- at that point to add nights was at full rack rates. As an aside, having to rely on someone else for reservations and plans is driving me nuts- I imagine many of you can relate!

I decided to change flights and added another night after the orig booking and to save $90, booked a room at ASM and plan on a resort swap Sunday. We're going to MK for the day and have a 6:30 ADR at Boma for dinner. I was going to have my luggage transferred to CBR.

Now my question and concern. I didn't realize that the luggage might not show up to late in the day using transfer and I want to head back to CBR to maybe take a swim and freshen up before dinner. I'm worried the luggage might not show up in time. In your experience when doing resort swaps, how long does it take for luggage to show?

I'm considering switching to CBR for the night because they have a deal and now it will only be $45 more to book directly through Disney. However, I won't have the same room at CBR because the block of rooms for Sun- Sat is with our group, but I could leave luggage at bell services and have control over when I get it.

Thoughts?

I almost always do a split stay, I enjoy them (as evident in my signature). Luggage delivery when having it transferred from another resort is generally there by 6pm. It's always done as a bulk drop off, in the later afternoon. They will give you a window of delivery time when you drop it off - they usually say "after 4pm." Now, that being said, if I had a reservation at 6:30pm I wanted to freshen up for, I wouldn't trust it to be there. In that case I Uber to the new resort with my luggage at check-out from the old resort & have it held until I get back there, and either head to a park, or enjoy the pool at the new resort. Only you know the value of staying at CBR for $45 - albeit in a different room vs. having to go to your Boma ADR in your all-day park clothes. Personally I'd just Uber (or whatever servie you use) over to ASM & have them hold the luggage - that will cost you around $15-$20 for Uber, tip & tip for holding the luggage. In any event, enjoy!

If you want/need your bags before check in time bring them yourself, grab a ride share or taxi. We use the luggage delivery all the time but we usually check out, drop off the bags to be transferred and head to a park for the day. We never arrive at the new resort before check in time (usually later) so the timing of the bags doesn't bother us.

The last time we did a split and transferred our luggage, it was available around 4 pm. There is just zero guarantee it will be at CBR when you need it. I would either bring it over yourself in the morning or pack a day bag with essentials and bring that to MK with you.

If you book the same room category at CBR as the room in the room block, you can certainly request to stay in the same room when you check in for your first night's stay. No guarantee, but it's worth asking. If you are concerned about the luggage transfer, I would spend the extra $45 and just keep everything at CBR.
