This thread is for information only. Sign-ups for this swap will begin on June 23, probably around 9 am.

I will basically cut and paste this into a new thread on sign up day, but I wanted to include everything here to get input on the colors, elements, etc.

Also, if you are not available on signup day, I will take requests via PM ahead of time, as long as you give me a backup element choice in case yours is already taken.

This is always my favorite swap - I'm looking forward to starting work on it!

THIS SWAP IS OPEN TO ALL SWAPPERS. NEWCOMERS ARE WELCOME AS ALWAYS. If you are new to swapping on the DISboards, please limit yourself to 2 groups.

Due date is September 15 (that is when I need to receive your package). Please mail packages out by September 8.

Check in Dates:
July 22
August 18 (last call for angels*)
September 1

*You must check in by the August 18 date. If not, I will send a PM/Email and if you don’t respond within 2 days, your spot will be angeled.

Instructions:
Choose your resort and an element that has not been picked. When choosing elements try not to choose the same element at more than 3 resorts to give everyone a chance to choose the different elements- if they are still open on the weekend then you are welcome to add more of the same element. Please note the color scheme for the resort. The last resort swap was run this way last time and it worked out very well to have all the items coordinate with each other within a group. I have mostly kept the colors the same as last year, with a few minor tweaks. For this swap, Bazzill cardstock is NOT required, but I have included some suggested colors for those who would like to use it. You are welcome to use patterned papers that go with the color scheme also.

There will be a max of 10 swappers per group. I will open 2nd groups for the more popular resorts. If a group has at least 2 people, I will include it. Please wait for the swap to close to note how many items you will make for each group. The numbers will vary from group to group

Once sign ups close, if your name is not highlighted, please PM me with your DIS name, name, home address, email address, and phone numbers. Email and phone numbers will only be used to follow up if I have not heard from you.

PM me if you have problems and need to drop out or if an emergency happens (we all know things happen beyond our control sometimes), let me know so we can make arrangements for an angel or other help if needed.

Packaging Instructions:
Place your completed elements in a Ziploc bag with your DIS name, name and group number. Place all your baggies for a group in a GALLON size bag, and label with the same. Please use a gallon bag – even if your pieces are smaller and may not require it, the pieces you will be getting back may be bigger.

Postage:
Please include cash, check or stamps (No Click-it/ship-it postage). If you are in less than 4 groups, include $4.95 for the priority envelopes. If you are in 4 or more groups, please include $10.35 for the priority box. If you would like delivery confirmation on your returned swap, also include the $0.65 and a filled out slip.

HAVE FUN AND BE CREATIVE!!

Element Selection:

For this swap, the elements must be embellished at least once.

Suggestions for embellishments include:
Die cuts, stickers, stickles, flock, ink, chalk, brads, charms, flowers, eyelets, ribbon/fiber, sewing, tearing, embossing, stamping, clipart, additional layers of paper beyond double mats (if it would look weird trying to fit in another embellishment, specialty paper (such as embossed, glitter, Bling).

If you can think of no way to embellish your item, without it looking weird, you can provide an embellishment not attached to your item, such as a Cricut icon cutout, or a set of 4 brads/eyelets, a yard of ribbon/fiber, etc.

Note: Please no handwritten items.

In general, please follow the “hopemax” guidelines for quality – Do you love it? Are you proud of it? Would you use it in your book? If you can answer yes to those 3 questions, you should be fine.

Choose one element from the following list:

- Signage/ Topper: should be the name of the resort, does not have to be traditional 2x8 – other sizes/orientation acceptable also, double matted.

- 2 Journaling Boxes: at least a 3x3 writing area, double matted

- 2 Tags: no smaller than 2 x 3 and larger is fine, double matted, (do not have to be typical tag shape)

- Box and Tag: 1 each of journal box and tag, described as above

- Library Pocket and Tag: no smaller than to hold a 2x3 tag

- 2 Slide Mounts

- File Folder: (2 per person if mini-sized)

- Matchbook: Include a blank page inside

- Shaker Box

- Paper Piecing

- License Plate

- 1 matted song/lyric/poem/quote/wordle: double matted, minimum text area 3x3

- 3 Altered Paper Clips

- 4 Embellished Shapes: at least 1 ½ by 1 ½ inches each, double matted (unless double matting is not feasible for the shape – use your judgement)

- 2 Borders: 12 inches long, double matted

- 2 Photo Frames--for a 4 x 6 photo (Sizzix frames okay), double matted

- 2 Photo mats: double matted, sized to fit a 4x6 photo

If I am missing any elements, I am open to suggestions.

I am looking forward to this one- I have plans to visit a few new resorts this year so I am looking forward to those groups along with repeating a couple I have tons of pictures from.

Rebecca

Glad we don't HAVE to use Bazzill if it is hard for some us to find. I will if Archiver's has the colors though. Any excuse to buy more paper is good enough for me. :)

I'll be sending my list in advance. I will be in FL, but I don't know if signup day will be a park day or stay at the house day, so I'll probably send it the night before. In most cases, I probably won't list an element, and just pick what hasn't been signed up for later.

There are a couple of resorts that I plan to visit this trip, because I haven't been in awhile. I call it "research" but then the pics would become the stuff that needs scrapping. So if I just skipped the research, I wouldn't need the stuff... :rotfl:

My Archiver's carries Bling, Criss-Cross, Dotted Swiss, Destinations and the Monochromatics. Michael's carries the Grasscloth colors and Bling. Almost all the LSS's have closed here, so that's what I have to work with. I'm thinking, once I pick colors I will post them in the progress thread, so if anyone else doesn't have the suggested colors but wants to coordinate they can.

So on this swap, do you just chose 1 from the list of elements?

That was a duh! moment! I just noticed it says chose 1 from the list. Sorry. Maybe it was the migraine meds I took!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who loves this swap!

I'm not married to the particular Bazzill colors. When I sat down with my swatches, it was hard to pick just one out of the gazillion shades they have for each color, so use them more as guidelines than hard and fast rules. It's not variations are not going to work with each other.

I totally agree with you about "research," Hope. I haven't stayed at nearly a fraction of these hotels, yet I have so many photos that I take purely with scrapping in mind. And I still have a few I haven't quite managed to make it to yet, but part of me wants to sign up for those groups so I have an excuse to go there!

I think I'll be sitting this one out (and kicking myself about it later), but I wanted to let you know that Jo-ann's now has Co'redinations paper (and it's on sale 6 for 96 cents starting Sunday!), which has the Bazzill texture and a similar color palette.

We dont go to WDW often enough for me to play in this one, however....
Wow Nee! You really did research on this and Im printing this off to just have as a future reference! I'm impressed!:thumbsup2

Are you going to seperate Alligator Bayou and Magnolia Bend for Port Orleans Riverside? I haven't stayed there yet, so I don't know about color schemes, but I know that A.B. is more rustic looking than the Manses, and that could be incorporated into element design.

Just a thought.. :goodvibes:

Looks like a fun swap! Thanks for giving color guidlines-this will make it much easier for me.

I can't take the credit - rlovew hosted this swap last year and she came up with the color schemes. She did a great job! I loved how well all the elements coordinated together.

Since the groups are usually very small (I think POR had about 5 people last time), it really wouldn't work to have two separate groups for 1 resort. The color schemes are more for the resort as a whole and not necessarily the inside of the rooms, since they will vary within the resort. I've stayed in both sides of POR, and I think you will find you take pictures of both sides, regardless of which you stay on, so if you wanted to make a rustic type element or something that would work with the mansions, either would be fine. I'm sure everything would get used.

Just registering my interest for this one, if you're willing to take Brits joining in? I'd be interested in doing something for AKL and Contemporary, to join the stuff I did in rlovew's swap last year.
