We are planning three nights over new year’s to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Any suggestions for hotels? We honeymooned at Disney but stayed off site , so we love any feedback!

Choose a resort with transportation options other than a bus. It can be monorail, skyliner, or boat, but avoid being on the roads in the middle of the day.
NYE 2017/18 we were at AKL and it took us over two hours on a packed full bus just to get to Epcot.

The next year we stayed at the Polynesian and it was a much better experience travel-wise. When we left Epcot on the monorail that afternoon we could just look out the window at the traffic backed up and people driving through the grass instead of being in the middle of it like we were the previous year.

All that being said, this year is more than likely not going to be exactly like years past, but at least it will give you an idea. Happy early anniversary, I hope your trip is magical!!

I'd suggest BLT. You could watch the fireworks from your room if you get a theme park view room PLUS you can walk back to your room after a day at MK.

Thank you all for suggestions! We are looking Epcot resorts or Floridian I think

We stayed at WL (well, we always do, we're DVC) over NYE 2019. We rang in the NY in MK watching fireworks at the dessert party. Once over, it was crazy getting out. Thankfully, only had to get to the boats. Once on the boats, you can see cars on the main roads trying to get out. The person driving the boat said 80,000 people were in MK in NYE that night. And that last year it took some people 8 hours to just get out of parking lot. Stay at the hotel closest to where you plan to be on NYE.

Cannot stress @xlsm’s point enough - assuming normal pre-COVD times/park capacity with fireworks in both parks (key detail here), you want to be somewhere that doesn’t rely on vehicular or bus traffic. I try to avoid DIS hyperbole but the traffic that day is seriously no joke - think toll plaza delays you’d never imagine possible, traffic backups everywhere.

Depending on your plans, a monorail resort or Epcot/Crescent Lake resort would be my first choice. NYE at those hotels is among the highest rates of the year (if not THE highest), but IMO it’s worth it.

Of course TBD whatever NYE at WDW will look like this year.

Leaning towards WL for the price over Floridian. Are the boats reasonable to navigate at end of the night?

I would prepare for long lines for the boats. Boats will be better than a car or bus. Feet will be best - I would really consider GF or CR if there is availability.

Agree with PP. While it comes with a cost, being somewhere that you can control your destiny (such as your two feet) in my opinion is worth it for NYE in normal times.

WL isn’t all that bad since you have boat and bus as an option (and the bus route is not one prone to crazy backups as it’s pretty close), but still, a lot of other people will have the exact same plan and at some points during the day/evening/night, Disney transportation just can’t keep up.

At the WL boat dock, there are two sides. One side goes back and forth to MK, the other side goes back and forth to Fort Wilderness. On NYE we got right onto the boat. The hardest part was getting thru the crowd to get there.

Pop century and Coronado tower rooms also available . I am actually surprised at how much is still left
