Looking for any suggestions for a moderate or deluxe WDW resort to accommodate DH, DS17, DD19 & me. Can only afford the cost of one room to to allow us to stay at a moderate or deluxe.

Most rooms have 2 queen or 2 double beds in one room. Would welcome any suggestion.

I have heard a resort has bunk beds - are they big enough for adults?

Deluxes have 2 queen beds and a day bed. The day bed is large enough for an adult, unless they are exceptionally tall.

Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Wildnerness Lodge have bunk beds. I haven't stayed there, so I can't say this with any amount of certainty, but I believe the bunk beds are twin beds. If your 17 and 19 olds can fit on those, you should be just fine.

With two older teenagers I would stay at an Epcot resort. They would love the boardwalk area! The only one we've stayed at is the Swan, so I can't help you with the others, but something that you should look into. My kids loved being so close to the action.

I have to agree here also! We have stayed at the Swan, The BoardWalk & the Beach Club... I would pick the Beach Club just for the pool... but you can't go wrong with any of them there. Many of the rooms (not the S&D) have the 2 queen beds plus a daybed. If your daughter was on the petti side, she could sleep there & your son on the bed... that way you & your hubby can be in one bed...& not have the kids share one....

Just one note, since your daughter is 19, she will be charged as a third adult, and at deluxes, I think that is an extra $25 per night.

If you can get a moderate resort at a good discount, you might be able to swing two rooms, which still might be more economical than 1 deluxe room with the extra adult charge.

For example under the current AZZ (September) code, two moderate standard rooms would be $85.00 per night per room which would be $170.00 plus tax.

The deluxe resorts that have day beds are priced as shown below (with the discount code AZZ, for September). Once you add the $25 extra adult charge, two rooms at a moderate (with a discount) becomes about the same price or less. The deluxe rooms that have bunk beds are slightly lower, but they will NOT guarantee you a bunk bed room.

Contemporary - $159 standard view garden wing, $255 tower
Boardwalk/Beach Club/Yacht Club - $209 standard, $390 water view concierge
Polynesian - $219 garden view, $310 garden view concierge, $390 lagoon view concierge

Hope this helps!

Just a note, your teens will not fit on a day bed at the BWI or YC/BC but the CR and Polynesian have larger daybeds. The rooms are larger at those resorts as well.

If you really want to stay at an Epcot resort the BWI has a Deluxe room that includes concierge and the YC/BC have the junior suite.

I agree with clkelley - you could probably get two moderate and for sure could get two value rooms for the price of one deluxe. You would have the convenience of two baths, everyone would have there own bed, and the teens would have privacy.

Other than sleeping the whole family could spend all your time together in one of the rooms.

Well, my teens fit fine on the YC daybed and one of them is 6 feet tall! The small daybeds are the BWI. The last time were at the YC my teens were 15 and 19 and we also had an 8-year-old.

My teens would chose YC or BC hands down b/c they like Epcot and MGM and love the pool there. We have stayed at the poly, but they were less impressed with it. We've also had good luck at two moderates, but the location isn't as good. Two rooms at a value were not a hit with my family.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. Keep them coming.

What were your teenagers favourite things at the Epcot, MGM, Boardwalk etc?

I'm a newbie, this will be our first time to WDW - going in January 2005 & we're so excited!!

Can you explain "current AZZ code "?

I'm from Australia and I'm unsure the best way to book from here to get the best price. The prices quoted on this thread are very good. I can't get those prices here in Australia. If possible, I'd rather not give my credit card details to book my accommodation.

Has anyone got any alternatives?

I would suggest to keep watching here and Mousesavers.com to see when discounts for the general public are offered during the timeframe of your trip.

To avoid giving out CC info, you are going to just have to bite the bullet and make that long distance call to the US and book with Disney Central Reservations office yourself. 407-WDISNEY

Then when you make the call get your confirmation # and the amount of your deposit and mail them a check in US funds right away so that it arrives before your cancellation date.

What AZZ means is right now there is an offer for the general public for discounts on Disney resorts for the time period of Aug 29-Sept 29. If someone calls Disney and says that would like to book "xyz" resort for Sept x - x and I want to use the discount code "AZZ". Then the agent will tell them if there are any available rooms at that rate for that resort for those dates. If at that point, the agent says there are no rooms at that rate, then ask the agent what are the rates for rooms with AZZ at other resorts for those dates, then pick the resort that matches your budget and tastes.

Disney MAY offer different types of discounts at different times of the year for various types of guests (Passholders, Florida residents, Canadians, AAA members, Disney Visa Card holders, or the general public). It is always a guessing game and a waiting game to see if those discounts are offered for the time of your trip. Mousesavers.com and this board will ALWAYS have the latest information on ANY discount rates that might be available for you.

I hope this helps explain all this.

How about a cabin at Fort Wilderness? There is plenty of room, and more privacy for the teens.............

My DD is now 23, but we have been staying at the Beach Club and Boardwalk since she was 12. She never wants to stay anywhere else.

She has taken friends and we have gone with family and stayed at these 2 places. Alll the teens loved the Epcot area. There is just so much to do. There are video arcades at the ESPN club on the Boardwalk and at the Beach Club. The sports restaurant at ESPN was alot of fun for them, too. They enjoyed renting the 4 seater surrey bikes at the Boardwalk and peddling around the lake. There are ice cream shops, bakeries, lots of restaurants .. all kinds of things all members of the family will like!

And the pools! Storm along Bay at YC/BC is considered the best pool at Disney. Luna Park at Boardwalk is a great pool, too. My friend's 3 boys, 13, 15 and 17, spent half their vacation in Storm along Bay!

They can walk or take the boat to Epcot and MGM. MK is a bus ride away. I always felt comfortable letting them come and go since it was so close.

The same friend had one room at the BC and did fine. It was crowded and having one bathroom was hard, but they really loved the BC. Her 15 yo slept on the day bed and was comfortable and he is a big football playing kid.

Your feedback is so helpful and I love hearing about all the great places to see and stay.

Thank you everyone for your advice. Would love to hear more!

Hopefully with so much great advice I will be able to make a decision. Should I make my decision soon? Will it be difficult to get accommodation in January 2005 that suits my needs if I book later in the year?

The Swan has very comfy queen beds and they often run discounts that the other Disney resorts don't. Swan/Dolphin are on Disney property, but not owned by Disney. You can also get a rollaway bed too. The Swan & Dolphin are located right between the Boardwalk and Beach Club/Yacht Club resorts. Check out AllEarsnet.com. They have S/D discounted prices through the end of 2004, and I assume they will have them at some point for 2005.

You might want to book soon depending on when you want to go in January. Right after Jan. 1 will be crowded, and the middle of the month is the Disney marathon that may draw big crowds to the Epcot area.

We booked our trip to the Swan through dreamsunlimited.com. They will apply discount codes as they come out and have a very good cancellation policy.

The thing my teens like about the Epcot hotels is location. The older ones favorite park is Epcot. He sometimes goes over there by himself while the rest of us take an afternoon break. I'm not totally sure what he does, but I know he plays video games in Innoventions (free!) and rides Test Track in the singles line. My younger teen's favorite park is MGM and favorite ride is ToT. Last time, he spent an afternoon there riding it over and over. He also is fascinated by Miyuki (the candymaker in Japan) and sometimes walks over by himself to catch an extra show. He and his younger brother also have spent some time in the arcade next to ESPN. We rented a four-person bike once, too, which was fun but HARD work.

Sometimes my teens just need a break from the rest of the family and I like that they are able to go do something without spending a lot of time waiting for transportation. Last year, we did two rooms at a moderate and value to save $ and have more space, and we all agree that we would rather be crowded in one room and have that location.

Can anyone explain the Disney resorts policy of 3 adults and 1 child sharing a room eg DH, DD19, DS17 and me. Tried booking from here in Sydney. The Wilderness Lodge will not allow us to book one room.

Can anyone explain this or give suggestions to which moderate or deluxe will allow 4 people per room.

That is unusual! Disney has always allowed 4 adults in all of their rooms. Some deluxe resorts allow 5 in one room. You just have to pay a fee for extra adults over 2.

I had a trip where we had four adults at All-Stars which are the smallest resort rooms.

The only thing I can think of is maybe the only category they have left for your dates has King Beds only??

Did you call Disney reservations directly, or speak with a local travel agent? Some travel agents, if they don't specialize in Disney reservations, may be giving you incorrect information.

I would call Disney reservations directly at 407-WDISNEY or visit the website for the travel agent that sponsors this board. They are very knowledgeable.

Have you thought about the Ft. Wilderness cabins? I have never stayed there, but they can accomodate 6. I believe they have 2 queen beds and murphy style bed. They also have small kitchens and grills. I have a family of 6, since my mother is going with us in Dec. we are getting 2 rooms at WL. However, when it is just our family going, Ft. Wilderness cabins may be one of our choices for the price. I think with the discounts, you can stay there for $149 per night.

The bunk beds at WL are normal size bunk beds. That would also be a great room.
