Hello! My 21yo daughter and I are visiting next month and planning on a split stay. We are west coasters and haven't been to DW since 2014! It's always been a dream of mine to stay at the Poly and I've booked it for the first four nights. I've booked the Beach Club 1bd villa and OKW 1bd villa for the remaining five nights and I'm trying to decide between the two. I have two questions...1.Is the Poly worth it considering all of the construction taking place?$$$$ 2. Beach Club or OKW?! OKW is $1000 cheaper so there's that lol. It also seems a lot quieter. I love the Beach Club location though. Thoughts?

Well, from BCV you can walk to Epcot IG, the closest entry to Remy, and walk/boat/Skyliner to DHS. From OKW it’s bus everywhere. That would make a difference to me.

OTOH the OKW villas are more spacious than at BCV.

Lots more dining options in walking distance from BCV than from OKW, but OKW is a boat ride away from dining and shopping at Disney Springs.

How do y’all plan to spend your time?

Agree^.
Are you going to parks all day every day, or are you looking to spend time at the resort, Disney Springs, etc. How important is saving the money?

We won't spend much time at Disney Springs. Maybe a few hours? We'll spend most of our time in the parks with naps and/or pool time mid-day, and two full days off from the parks. Unfortunately, the Skyliner will be closed when we are there. I love how big the OKW rooms are!

If you want a lot of space and a large kitchen then OKW 1 BR is the choice. IMO they are the best 1 BR on property...period. There's also a boat ride that will take you over to Disney Springs and it isn't that far from EP. It may be an older resort but they just refurbed the lobby area not long ago. I may be biased because I purchased it in 1992 for a song when it WAS the DVC but it's a lovely resort.

BCV will be much more convenient for midday naps and pool time than OKW would be. And if it’s warm enough to swim, BCV has Stormalong Bay.

What are you doing with 2 full days off if not going to Disney Springs? The weather might cooperate or it might be freeze your rear off like I experienced just a couple weeks ago so that’s what I ask your game plan if the pool is out. If it is DS I’d give OKW the edge, if it is add a day or two to your tickets and hit up EP or DHS I’d give the edge to BC. Price wise did you look at 2 rooms at Dolphin (assuming you don’t want a single hotel room)? If you call them direct they may be able to offer a deal on connecting rooms which would get you 2 full bathrooms.

Both OKW and BCV are amazing places to stay. Obviously, the BCV location is hard to beat. You'd have a monorail resort for MK/EP for a few days, and then an EP resort for EP/HS for a few days (although less convenient if you're there in Jan when Skyliner is not running, but you can still walk or boat). But OKW is a beautiful resort that always gives us the spacious room layouts and a very 'peaceful' feeling when we stay there. You don't have a bad choice. I'd probably lean towards BCV - enjoy your trip!

Poly and BC is an absolutely ideal split to me. It means you only have to deal with buses to AK. I have done MK/EP splits twice now and it's the way to go for longer trips imo. We did a YC/Poly split back in May/June and it was so convenient.

As far as construction at the Poly, it's a non issue on the DVC side of the resort. Unless you are looking straight at the Grand Floridian or trying to walk there you wouldn't even know it's happening. Request the Tokelau building as it's most convenient to TTC

then an EP resort for EP/HS for a few days (although less convenient if you're there in Jan when Skyliner is not running, but you can still walk or boat).

The Skyliner is irrelevant at BC/YC/BWI. If you're staying on Crescent Lake the only real use it has is checking out the offerings at Riviera or park hopping between EP and HS. It's not at all a convenient or efficient way to get to HS compared to the friendship boat that goes straight there after 1 stop at Swolphin.

We don't tend to use Skyliner, at least not very often. But I wouldn't say it's any more or any less convenient than the boat. I know that a lot of people use it as their main transportation, especially from BC/BCV. We've measured things out from BCV, and it's about the same time to walk, boat, or Skyline to HS - about 15-18 minutes for us.

You've hit on the 2 resorts that DH and I disagree about a favorite. DH's favorite by far is OKW-it's a struggle to get him to stay anywhere else. My favorite is your other choice, Beach Club villas. The only thing DH will agree about is that OKW is limited on meal choices. However, this last time was the first time we'd put in a grocery order with (I think) Instacart, and that made things so very much better.
