Resort Room Upgrades

I was wondering who gives the room upgrades.

Is it the Almighty Room Assigner or the CM at check-in?

What do you think the chances of going from an AKL Savannah view with a CM discount to a concierge Savannah view are?

We have been upgraded several times. The last time at AKL from standard view to pool view. We always have a CM discounted room. Everytime we have been upgraded: 1. we've never asked to be upgraded; and 2. It has always seemed to be the CM at the desk who makes this decision. I too doubt there would be a chance to ever be upgraded to concierge.

I believe I read a post on this board last week where a couple was upgraded from a waterview room to Concierge at the Beach Club during slow (value) season.

But at a CM discounted rate? That is the key question. I would expect that there's a possibility of being upgraded if a person paid the full amount, but not 50% of the rate.

We got upgraded from garden view to lodge concierge at GF last September and we were using a code (we were paying about $230 a night), so I guess it's possible.

I was just upgraded from a studio plus request at the BWV to a 1 bedroom villa a week ago. I had rented points from a DVC member, so I wasn't even a DVC member. I could have kissed that CM when he offered me the 1 bedroom! He told me he'd give me the upgrade as I requested the BW view, but there were none available. I did notice that it was very slow at the BW last week so they did have plenty of rooms available.
