Hey gang.. I was just wondering when there would be another resort review.

I know you all have been busy and I know that Bob had done one that he hated and I am wanting to say it was Coronado or Caribbean Beach?

Basically I am just waiting to hear the Wilderness Lodge review because we will be going there for the first time for our honeymoon in October!:goodvibes

I'm hoping for a Poly review before our trip...also in October...when are you honeymooning?

I was also hoping for wilderness lodge. We check-in on september 21st.:)

Hi guys! I know that this is not the same as afull review but I have stayed at both and I love them both, the Poly was last year and WL a few years ago. I think what can make a difference at both is the room location, I am sure that you have, but be sure to have a good idea of the layout of each resort so you can request a change if needed at check in, I think that this is less of an issue at WL then the Poly. We always stay what I call,"inner courtyard" at WL and have always enjoyed the view of the pool and the lake. We stayed in Tahiti at the Poly and liked it, a little walk from GCS but very close to TTC. If you have any specific questions let me know and I will do my best to answer! I wish I was going with you this fall!

The last conversation I had with Bawb was during his stay at Coronado. He really didn't like that resort. It was much too spread out and difficult to navigate for his taste. Unfortunately, he never had a chance to do the review. :sad1:

I've stayed at both the Poly and WL and they are wonderful resorts. Bawb was especially fond of WL, so much so that his original name was "Wilderness" on the DIS. :thumbsup2

We also love WL, so much so that we added it to our DVC membership. The fact that we were on the first DVC cruise and had consumed a few "konk koolers" when we made the decision may have played a part in it. ;)

I can review POP, and all of the ALL Stars...

when it is crowded, it is very crowded... when it is not crowded, the are still crowded at breakfast in the food court.

A Brief Review of the Poly

For the Poly I would say that the biggest benefit is that it is a peaceful resort. Obviously, it is a Deluxe resort next to MK and on the monorail. These chanaracteristics are benfits in themselves, but it is the peacefulness of the resort that makes it a great resort.

I don't know why it has this feeling, but it is very relaxing there and I think that this makes it great. It is peaceful in the same way that the Contemporary feels busy. You can really relax at the Poly.

Thanks for the info. We are booked in a courtyard view. Also thanks Regina I hope we love it as much as Bob did.:)

I just saw Wilde Oscar's "review" of the Pop Century and any of the All Star Resorts. I have stayed in all of them, a couple of them a few times, I am not sure if Wilde Oscar's comment was "tongue in cheek" or not, but I have never been overwhelmed by the crowds ar breakfast at any of these resorts. The food courts there are large and can accomodate a lot of people, and I think Disney does a great job of getting you through the lines at the cash registers. Personally, I would much rather eat here than at some of the moderate food courts.
It's much the same with the busses. I think the All-Stars get a bum rap when people comment on the bus situation and how long they have to wait. I actually think the longest waits I have ever had were at The Boardwalk, The Swan and Dolphin, and Coronado Springs. ( Iknow Coronado is not a deluxe, but I threw it in anyway)

pretty much always assume "tongue in cheek"

I guess I should say... even when Pop was not that busy, it seemed crowded at breakfast, I do tend to go during Feb and Sept for the lower crowd season... the all star food courts are in fact huge... and can handle big crowds. as I recall the Pop food court was not as large... by food court I mean the area to sit and eat with tables, not the area where ya get the food itself.

This was more a casual observation, as in about 35ish nights of having stayed in the values I have had breakfast in the food court all of once. I like to go hit Ft. Wilderness Buffet, or The Yacht Club Grill for breakfast... both good buffets for a reasonable price.

I'll agree completely with the Bus Situation though... Disney transportation is the most advanced logistics system in the world... they move 50,000 people every half hour during the period(s) that the parks are closing. Some may recall back in the day when it was just the Magic Kingdom, and all transportation was handled from the TTC... there being a 2 hour wait for the monorail and/or the ferry at busy times of year. Can you imagine how loud people would get with a two hour wait for buses? I can say even at peak times the most I think I have waited for a but was about 45 min. Which isn't bad when you consider the number of room at the values and the number of people trying to all get there at the same time.

I spent one night at CBR a couple weeks ago. I don't know if the whole place has gone to hell or if I just got the Hell room. It was SOOOO dirty. There were even dirty, brown cobwebby things on the ceiling - like cobwebs that had been there quite a while and got all ooky.

Housekeeping had done a decent job on the shower, sink and toilet but I'm not sure that the floor had been touched in...I don't know how long. And the thick crud that was on the ceiling fan - BLECH! Shadows of filth around the ceiling fan, too. Barforama.

It was all long-term dirt and not anything any one particular housekeeper (or two) had missed.

I let a lot go in hotel rooms, but this was just yucky. With the exception of one truly disgusting event at the All-Stars several years ago, it was the worst of the Disney rooms I've stayed in...counting the one where I found a half-eaten cookie and popcorn behind the throw pillow on the couch.

Could have just been that room, though. I dunno. I'll be waiting a while before heading back to CBR (and I really liked it there!)

:scared1:

I usually love CBR, and its the only hotel i have stayed in on property (my rents know better now, we are DVC! :goodvibes)

I would of called mousekeeping quick sticks! I hate dirty rooms, but i can't abide dirty rooms at Disney prices!!
